Students at Mascoma Valley Regional High School and Randolph Union High School are staging two starkly different plays about princesses this week.

The Mascoma Players, under the direction of David Wilson, will put their spin on the classic Broadway musical Once Upon a Mattress, adapted in 1959 from the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Co-starring are Candace Dickerson as Princess Winnifred the Woebegone and Alex White as Prince Dauntless. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights at 7 and Sunday afternoon at 2. Tickets cost $7 to $10.

In Randolph, sophomore Allison Johnston will play Diana, princess of Wales in The Diana Tapes, adapted from the interviews that tell-all author Andrew Morton conducted with the star-crossed royal icon in the mid-1990s. Freshman Ilya Andreyev portrays Morton, in a play that RUHS history professor Brian Rainville directs. Performances are scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 and on Saturday afternoon at 2. Admission is $6 to $9 at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales go toward the theater programโ€™s annual trip to New York City in May.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)

The Enfield Department of Public Works is inviting aspiring engineers, architects and land-planners to apply for a paid internship helping with town road projects this summer.

The 12-week internship is open to college upperclassmen and to graduate students interested in infrastructure planning, asset management and collection of geospatial data. Much of the focus will be on developing a town-wide plan for roads. To learn more, visit enfield.nh.us.
