ORFORD — Josh Eastburn netted a game-high 14 points to help the Rivendell Academy boys basketball team earn its second win in three games on Thursday night, topping Craftsbury, 54-26, on its home court.

“We did a nice job of boxing out and securing rebounds,” said Rivendell first-year head coach Russ Convertino. “Josh Eastburn shot the ball really well.”

The Raptors led, 13-6, after the first quarter and 27-9 at halftime. Isaac Martel added 12 points for the hosts. Zach Gould, Kyle Carter and Ty Newman scored six points each. Rivendell had 15 assists in the game.

“We moved the ball really well,” Convertino added. 

Rivendell (3-9) travels to White River Valley today.

Websterville Baptist 50, Sharon 43

SHARON — The Phoenix suffered their first home loss since Feb. 14, 2017, falling to 9-5.

“They really made us shoot from the outside,” said Sharon head coach Blake Fabrikant. “We went 7-for-20, which isn’t bad, but that’s just not our game. They took us out of our comfort zone.”

Freshman Tyler Chapin led Sharon with 21 points and five 3-pointers. Fisher Kelley added nine points, Olly Skeet-Browning scored eight. The Phoenix travel to Arlington on Monday.

Sunapee 50, Concord Christian 34

CONCORD — The Lakers (11-2, 12-3) used a 31-point second half to pull away for the latest victory.

Brady Grzanna had eight of his 10 points in the second half to help Sunapee, winners of five straight and eight of their last 10. Jordan Chappell posted a team-high 15 points for the visitors, with Sean Shisko and Austin Davis netting six apiece.

The Lakers go to Newmarket on Thursday night.

NEWFOUND, N.H. — The Tigers fell to 1-13 this season. They travel to Stevens on Monday.

Tilton 88, Kimball Union 73

TILTON, N.H. — The Rams finished the game shooting over 60 percent from the floor, to hand KUA its ninth loss of the year.

Tilton led, 52-29, at halftime. Will Engelhardt led the visitors with 24 points, Enoch Cheeks scored 22 points for the Wildcats. Kimball Union hosts Holderness on Monday.

Girls BasketballMVCS 55, Northfield 32

NORTHFIELD, VT. — Hayley Goodwin netted 28 points and two 3-pointers to help the Eagles improve to 11-4.

“She started hitting her jump shots,” said Mid Vermont’s third year head coach Chris Goodwin. “We’re still struggling to put the ball in the hole, but we’re headed in the right direction scoring some points.”

Mid Vermont led, 27-14, at halftime and never looked back, outscoring Northfield, 17-7, in the third quarter. Freshman Kyla McCoy added 12 points for the Eagles, who travel to Richford one week from Saturday.

Woodstock 40Twin Valley 28

WOODSTOCK — Sophomore Savannah Sheehan netted a game-high 13 points in her first game back after a three week injury absence due to a concussion, helping the Wasps improve to 6-9.

“We played a much better game than the last time we played them (last week),” said Woodstock head coach Jason Johnson. “We definitely played a much better game.”

The Wasps played without junior starter Natalie Stevens, out with a knee injury. Emma Tarleton and Jane Lackley added nine points each for Woodstock, which hosts White River Valley on Monday.

Sunapee 53Concord Christian 17

CONCORD — Sunapee sophomore center Miah Hamm led the way with a career-high 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the Lakers improve to 7-8.

Cari Peirce added 15 points for the Lakers, who have won four of their last five. Sunapee travels to Newmarket today.

Thetford 56, Randolph 29

THETFORD — The Panthers shut down the Galloping Ghosts to improve to 14-1.

“The kids are really buying into our defense right now,” said Thetford head coach Eric Ward. “It’s great to see.”

The Panthers took control in the second quarter, outscoring Randolph, 23-7, before halftime. Kiana Johnson led the team with 14 points. Grace Davis added 12 and two 3-pointers.

Thetford, which hasn’t lost since early December, travels to Lyndon on Saturday.

Hartford 46, Otter Valley 31

BRANDON, VT. — Jasmine Jenkins led the Canes with 17 points as Hartford earned its third win of the year.

Kennedy Mullen added 11 points for the visitors, who scored 28 points in the second half. Hartford (3-12) travels to Rutland on Monday.

Lyndon 45, Oxbow 30

BRADFORD, Vt. — The O’s were outscored 32-19 in the second half to fall to 7-9.

Kaysea Neil led Oxbow with 13 points and Tiffany Longmoore added 10 points. The O’s trailed by two points, 13-11, at halftime. They travel to U-32 on Tuesday.

Alpine Skiing Hanover Dominates

BENNINGTON, N.H. — Hanover’s Eric Goodney squeaked out a win, the Marauder girls claimed four spots in the top 10 and both squads took team wins in a single-course slalom race at Crotched Mountain.

Goodney outpaced the field in the two-run race, posting a combined-time of 1 minute, 4.43 seconds to edge Pembroke’s Jackson Frazier by a quarter-second. Teddy Ruth was the only other Marauder in the boys’ top 10, taking 10th in 1:10.38. Hanover’s boys won the team title as well, topping Bow and Souhegan.

Elaine Taylor, Maya Holmes and Ellie Stannard finished 2-3-4 behind Hollis Brookline’s Stephanie Menard (1:08.16) as the Marauders dominated. Taylor clocked a time of 1:08.52, Holmes finished in 1:10.69 and Stannard bounced back from 12th place after the first run for the second-fastest second run to check in at 1:11.83. Riley Craft finished Hanover’s day by placing ninth (1:14.26), giving the Marauders a 27-point team victory.

The boys return to Crotched for their Division II state meet on Monday. The girls hold theirs at Pats Peak on Tuesday.
