HARTLAND — A 71-year-old man from Woodstock died this morning after a tree fell on him while he was logging alone on a property off Garvin Hill Road in Hartland.
Police are investigating, but Detective Sgt. Kevin Hughes said in a news release that the man’s death is not considered suspicious and appears accidental.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Vermont State Police this morning received a report from a friend of the victim who said he found the man pinned under a tree and unresponsive.
Rescue personnel responded. The man was pronounced dead on scene.
An autopsy is pending.
