Lyman, N.H. — State fire officials say a man and a woman from Lyman likely died from carbon monoxide poisoning earlier this week.

Police responded to the Grafton County town around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to conduct a welfare check at a home on Wilderness Acres Road, when they found the couple dead inside a residence, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Several cats and dogs also were dead inside the home, the release states.

The case remains under investigation. Autopsies were scheduled for Wednesday.

Officials are urging everyone to install working carbon monoxide detectors in their homes.

“Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is known as the silent killer,” State Fire Marshal Paul Parisi said in the release.

Lyman is about 12 miles north of Woodsville.
