LEBANON, NH — Peter Dillingham Winslow, 88, of Lebanon, N.H. died December 25, 2018 at Harvest Hill, Lebanon, N.H. Peter was born August 10, 1930 in Summit, New Jersey the son of Fredrick B. Winslow and Ruth D. Winslow Peter attended Thetford Academy in Thetford, Vermont and was in the class of 1950. Peter enlisted in the US Navy and truly began a life of learning. Peter served the US Navy in Cuba, Africa and Newfoundland.

He was married to Joyce Paige on November 19, 1955 at the Congregational Church in Woodstock, Vermont. In their early years of marriage Peter and Joyce began what would be the first of many changes of residence. Peter attended the American International College in Springfield, Ma. From there he and Joyce went to Florida where he began his career and continued his life of learning in sales for the Fuller Brush Company door- to- door in the morning and in selling cars in the afternoon. Peter and Joyce than moved to Springfield Mo. At that time he attended the Office and Appliance Mechanical Institute of Missouri.

In 1960 a business opportunity in Springfield, Mo. would have taken the young family to California. Peter and Joyce decided to pass on the opportunity, and they eventually returned to their home in Vermont and settled in Randolph in 1960. He started in the Service Department at Magee Service and Sales in Randolph, Vermont.

In 1963 Peter purchased Magee Service and Sales and incorporated his first of many business endeavors. It became known as Magee Office Equipment, Inc. “Magee” still operates today under the name of Magee Office Products and is still owned by the Winslow family and is operated by Peter’s two eldest sons, Todd and Dale. In 1972 he opened his first retail stores, Winslow Stationers. Winslow Stationers had locations in Rutland, Barre and St. Albans. In 1974 he purchased College Supplies in Hanover, N.H.. In 1977 he began a leasing business, TDS Leasing, Inc. and in 1979 ITYS, Inc. which then purchased the Ben Franklin store in Randolph, Vermont. In 2007 the store name was changed back to the original name Belmains.

Peter had a passion for so many things but none more important to him than learning and in turn teaching. He created a culture of learning at Magee which has become an important part of their continued success. Peter was also known for helping other businesses through his mentoring . He would encourage each of those business owners that he mentored to take up challenges and discover what it was that they did not know and learn from that discovery.

Peter also enjoyed what he liked to call his “toys” – motorcycles, airplanes, boats, snowmobiles and RV’s. Peter enjoyed being in the outdoors and the entertainment of his toys. He loved travel and most importantly the stories he told of his adventures with his beloved wife and his children.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, on November 2, 2011; his parents and his two sisters, Sandra Swift of Walpole, N.H. and Judy Winslow of St. Petersburg, Florida.
