The Lakers were runners-up in both the girls and boys races as a team. Frederick won the morning giant slalom, which was contested over a pair of runs, with a combined time of one minute, 4.68 seconds. Frederick then took fourth after a single afternoon GS run in 35.54 seconds.
“It was a good start to the season,” Sunapee coach Jack Iacopino said in an email.
“I think our racers gained some experience and confidence.”
Silvia Dalton added a third place finish in 35.51 in the afternoon for the Lakers after finishing fifth (1:05.69) in the morning. Saylor Garland was 13th (1:12.77) in the morning and 10th (37.81) in the afternoon. Robyn Salvitti rounded out the scoring runs in 17th (1:14.53) to start the day and then 18th (40.85) to close.
Riley Balch led the Sunapee boys, finishing fourth in the combined morning runs (1:02.62) and 12th (37.19) in the afternoon. Rupert Dalton was 10th (1:07.86) and ninth (36.22). Michael Mullen had a pair of 14th-place showings, clocking in at 1:09.61 and 37.37. Jackson Cooney was 16th (1:11.20) and eighth (36.11).
Donny Bowman paced the Woodsville boys, finishing fifth (35.2) in the afternoon after an eighth place finish in the morning (1:06.80).

Hanover Wins Debut

Winter had the two longest jumps of the night for the entire field, each 18 meters, to take first place in the boys individual competition. Marauders junior Felix Estes added a third place finish in his first competitive jumping event. Teammates Tage Colberg (sixth) and Tristan Meyer (10th) also came in with top-10 finishes for the boys.
Cameron Summerton took second for the Sunapee boys; teammate Lane Smith was eighth.
Sophie Mitchell won the girls individual title, and was 11th overall out of 52 jumpers, to lead the Hanover girls. Sister Sabin Mitchell was third, Maya Holmes was fifth and Dina Hertog-Raz was seventh for the Marauders.
Sunapee’s Silvia Dalton capped a busy day in fourth place; Dalton had a pair of top-5 finishes in alpine skiing earlier in the day. Lebanon’s Ayla Weale was sixth.
“It went very well, it was great jumping for an early-season meet,” Hanover coach Tom Dodds said. “It’s great seeing 52 jumpers out there. We had a lot of enthusiasm.”

Woodsville 46, Groveton 44

After a back-and-forth game, the Engineers and the Purple Eagles were tied at 44-44 with less than a minute to go. Woodsville then closed out the win with Prest’s jumper and then a key defensive play to force a turnover on Groveton’s ensuing possession to close the game.
Olivia Sarkis led all scorers with 17 points for the Engineers. Prest added 15 and Morgan Wagstaff had nine points. Woodsville (6-0) hosts Littleton on Jan. 4.
Hanover 62, Plymouth 18

Maddie McCorkle led the pack with a game-high 14 points for Hanover. Julia Golder added nine points. Willa Parkins, Charlotte Johnson and Anna Kirkpatrick each pitched in eight points.
Hanover’s three wins this season have all been by at least 33 points. The Marauders (3-1) host Kingswood this Friday.

Charlie Adams had 29 points, including eight in the second quarter, to lead Hanover. Jai White scored 10 of his 14 points in the second quarter barrage. Hank Pikus added 10 points and Nolan Gantrish had seven points.

Dylan Patel led MVCS with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Cade Paquette added 10 points.

Patrick Estes added nine points for Woodsville. Walker had his 12 points on four 3-pointers. The Engineers (2-2) will play at Hanover in a holiday tournament starting on Dec. 27.

“We played hard. We just couldn’t put the puck in the net,” Hartford coach Bill Goldsworthy said.
The Hurricanes outshot Spaulding 30-14. The Canes (0-3-0) visit Missisquoi on Saturday.

Marissa Pickman was LSK’s only multiple-goal scorer, netting a pair with an assist. Paige Hoegler, Lena Nowell, Ella Lindsay, Lily Barber, Kate Cochran, Brianna Frisbee and Emma Leute (her first varsity goal) provided the other Raider goals.
Cochran finished with a game-high three assists, Nowell contributed two and Barber, Frisbee and Lilly Gogan contributed single helpers. Kayleigh Treitsch posted a five-save shutout for the Raiders, who host Concord on Saturday.

The hosts scored first to take an early lead. Hanover responded with a pair of power-play goals to lead, 2-1, after the first period. It was all Marauders from then on.
Sylas Oberting had a goal and four assists for Hanover. Matty Gardner and Charlie Plottner each added two goals. Patrick Daley had a goal and two assists. Cameron Woods had a goal and an assist. Curtis Rice had the other goal.
Joey Goff added two assists. Brendan Brigham, Casey Graham and Hans Williams had one assist each. Goaltender Ben Plottner made 15 saves for the win.
The Marauders successfully killed four penalties, for which coach Dick Dodds praised the defensive work of Brigham, Will Laycock and Carter Auch.
The Marauders play Bishop Guertin on Saturday at Skate 3 Ice Arena in Tyngsborough, Mass.

Trey Chickering scored unassisted to start the scoring for the Raiders. Brian Daly scored with assists to Mason Adams and Jack Sandmann later in the first period. Aiden Yates scored in the second period with an assist from Jon Cloud.
The Raiders appear next in a holiday tournament in Hartford against Burr and Burton on Jan. 27.
Newport Captains Shine

A sophomore, Sharron pinned his first two foes, claimed a 7-0 decision in the semifinals and closed out his afternoon with a second-period pin of Bow’s Zach Anderson in a rematch of last year’s NHIAA Division III final. Sharron improved to 8-1 on the season, with wins in both tournaments in which the Tigers have appeared.
Coming off of a win at the ConVal Early Bird one week prior, Newport’s Gavin Lovely went 4-1 at HBHS to take third at 182 pounds. Lovely is also 8-1 on the campaign.
The Tigers are off until heading to the Hubie Wagner holiday tournament on Dec. 28-29 in Middlebury, Vt.
