White River Junction — Upper Valley Aquatic Club swimmer Jack Wadsworth qualified for this week’s junior naitonals in North Carolina to highlight the team’s efforts at last weekend’s Winter Classic Invitiational meet at the Upper Valley Aquatic Club.

Wadsworth, 16, of West Lebanon, is in Greensboro, N.C., this weekend for junior nationals, the second straight year he’s advanced. He swept to wins in all four of his Winter Classic races in the boys open division, taking the 200- and 400-yard individual medleys along with the 100- and 200-yard backstroke. The junior national championship runs through Saturday.

Other event winners, with competitor name, age, hometown and events won:

■Izak Tell, 8, Plainfield (boys 8 and under): 25 breastroke.

■Molly Kimber, 10, East Corinth (girls ages 9-10): 400 individual medley.

■Rosie Keith, 12, Orford (girls ages 11-12): 400 individual medley, 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 50 free.

■Aiden Caulfield, 11, Lyme (boys 11-12): 400 individual medley.

■Benton Cesanek, 14, Hanover (boys 13-14): 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly, 100 fly.

■Clare Brown, 17, Hanover (open girls): 400 individual medley.

■Emma Dunbar, 15, Hanover (open girls): 1,000 freestyle.

■Isabelle Hiller, 15, Woodstock (open girls): 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 100 breast.

■Grace Wenger, 16, Hanover (open girls): 200 freestyle.

In all, UVAC swimmers added 33 silvers and 22 bronzes to their 21 gold-medal victories. Additionally, 31 UVAC athletes qualified for the New England age-group championship to be held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in March, and another 14 made it into the New England Senior Championship scheduled for Dec. 13-16 in Providence. Wear Out Your TrainerFor a Good Cause

Lebanon — Wayne’s World Elite Fitness Training in Lebanon will join seven other fitness facilities around the Upper Valley for the Crush Cancer (and Your Trainer) charity fundraiser on Jan. 19.

Five years into the event’s existence, Wayne’s World owner Wayne Burwell and his peers are expanding their reach from two gyms to seven with the hope of raising $50,000 for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon. The event will offer two means for achieving that goal.

Each of the seven facilities will host an open boot camp from 10-11 a.m. At a cost of $20, participants can put in some sweat equity for an hour with their favorite trainers and gyms.

At 11 a.m., the tables get turned. Participants can take a train-your-trainer pledge of $5 per minute, where they get to dictate exercises for their trainers to perform. Train your trainer continues until 3 p.m.

Toddler Open Gym

White River Junction — The Hartford Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back its Toddler Open Gym program on Sunday mornings after the first of the year.

The program, which will run from 9-10 a.m. at the Dothan Brook School, is open children ages 1-5 along with their parents, grandparents or caregivers. Hartford Rec provides scooters, beanbags, hoops, jump ropes and other items for play, providing an opportunity for children and adults to socialized in a non-structured environment.

Adults must stay with their children during the hour to provide supervision. Pay is on a drop-in basis at $2 per visitor by purchasing a Toddler Open Gym season pass at $10. The first session will be on Jan. 6 and will continue every Sunday morning through March 10.

Wild Bantams Fit to Be Tied

Hanover — The Hanover Bantam White youth hockey team played to its fourth straight tie to open the season, skating to a 1-1 deadlock with Kearsarge at Thompson Arena.

Kearsarge put its one shot past Hanover goaltender Dill Eisendrath in the second period, and the Wild goaltender kept Hanover in the game with his play the rest of the way. Eisendrath was finally rewarded when Mateo Trimble leveled the contest with four minutes left in the third period.

The Wild (0-0-4) plays two games this weekend, against Cardigan Mountain at Thompson on Saturday and against Dover at Woodstock’s Union Arena on Sunday.

New UVCC Clinic

White River Junction — The Upper Valley Curling Club will offer a new learn-to-curl clinic at Wendell A. Barwood Arena on Dec. 15 from 5:45-8 p.m.

The clinic is open to people new to this Olympic-level sport. The club provided all equipment; all participants need to bring are warm clothes, inclduing hats and gloves, along with shoes with non-sked soles. Experienced curlers teach elements of the game before the group hits the ice to test what it has learned.

Winter Riding Workshop

White River Junction — Vital Communities will hold its first winter bike riding workshop on Wednesday evening from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Center for Cartoon Studies Post Office Building in downtown White River Junction.

Riders of all experiences will discuss what’s required for riders to stay warm, safe and prepared for anything while biking the streets of the Upper Valley in winter weather. The workshop is ideal for people who are looking for ways to stay activein the winter or perhaps are interested in bicycle commuting to work.

NLG Hosts Harvest Classic

Wilder — Ten members of the Wilder-based Northern Lights Gymnastics team claimed all-around victories at the club’s Harvest Classic meet on Nov. 17-18.

NLG picked up three Level 3 wins. Hartford’s Rachel Austin and Hanover’s Brooke Nigriny both claimed wins in the 10-year-old division, while Hanover’s Lucy Wilcox claimed a victory in the 12-and-older age group. West Lebanon’s Charlie Sylvestre added a Level 4 win for ages 12 and over with 34.825 points built on a victory in the vault (8.200).

Level 5 produced all-around winners in Enfield’s Allie Curtis (ages 7-10; 35.050) and Lebanon’s Whitney Aldrich (age 11; 36.150). Hanver’s Janina Li prevailed among 13-and 14-year-olds in Level 6 (37.000).

Hanover’s Abby Feyrer took a win in Level 9’s 15-and-older division with 32.375 points, getting wins in the vault (8.750), bars (7.000) and beam (9.050). Lebanon’s Audry Kapuscinski picked up the remaining victory for Northern Lights, taking the Xcel B class for ages 13 and 14 with 36.000 built on, as with Feyrer, victories in the vault (8.950), bars (9.450) and beam (9.000).
