Brian Roberts, 38, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor criminal threatening, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.
On Friday, Roberts sent an electronic message to the website cia.gov that said, “Going to shoot Gov state of NH no matter what,” the Attorney General’s Office said. Roberts also is accused of sending threats targeting police officers and Concord’s Jewish community.
The emails were sent directly to the CIA and insinuated that an act of violence might occur on Friday night, according to Concord Police Lt. Sean Ford. Police have been keeping a strong presence at the Temple Beth Jacob, the city’s only synagogue, since Friday, Ford said.
Law enforcement also attended the lighting of the city’s 13-foot menorah in front of the State House on Sunday night, which celebrates the first night of Hanukkah. The ceremony was delayed due to an investigation into a “suspicious” silver package discovered on Statehouse grounds that turned out to be food, according to police.
