Man Accused of Hanover ShootingRemains Held Without Bail

North Haverhill — The 22-year-old Lebanon man charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting earlier this month in downtown Hanover will remain in jail without bail.

Gage Young, who earlier had pleaded not guilty to the felony assault charge and to felony counts of reckless conduct and falsifying physical evidence, sought through his attorney to be freed on $10,000 bail at a hearing Tuesday in Grafton Superior Court in North Haverhill. He had been ordered held without bail following his arraignment on Nov. 5

And the judge on Tuesday ruled that he should continue to be held with no bail, Grafton County Attorney Lara Saffo said on Wednesday. Young was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun from a car he was riding in on Nov. 2, hitting an 18-year-old Providence College student in the back as he walked on School Street in Hanover with a Dartmouth College student that he and other high school classmates were visiting.

Vt. Man Charged With StalkingPleads Not Guilty

White River Junction — A 50-year-old Hartland man charged with stalking two girls in Woodstock has pleaded not guilty to the felony-level offenses.

David Beauregard appeared in Windsor Superior Court in White River Junction for an arraignment on Tuesday.

He remains released on conditions, including that he have no contact with the alleged victims and anyone under the age of 18, except for supervised contact with minor family members.

Beauregard, who faces two aggravated stalking charges, also must “not intentionally follow, surveil anyone under 18,” court documents state.

Police say Beauregard stalked two teenage girls on multiple occasions throughout the village of Woodstock.

He will appear next in the White River Junction courthouse on Dec. 17.

KUA Names New Head of School

Meriden — Kimball Union Academy has named a Maine native with extensive prep school experience to be its next head of school.

Tyler Lewis, currently the head of Bishop’s College School in Sherbrooke, Quebec, will take over at the Meriden-based private school in July 2019, KUA announced Wednesday.

Lewis — who grew up in Waterville, Maine, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colby College and a master’s degree in leadership from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education — started his teaching career 25 years ago at Blair Academy in New Jersey. While earning his graduate degree at Harvard, he also served on the coaching staff of the Harvard women’s varsity hockey team.

He later worked as an educational consultant, and spent nine years as the director of enrollment management at the Holderness School.

Lewis has been at Bishop’s College School, an international boarding school serving students from more than 40 countries, since 2015.

He and his wife, Renee, a former teacher and coach at both Holderness and Concord Academy, have three children ages 5 to 9. KUA’s head of school, Mike Schafer, announced in June that he was stepping down after 15 years.

Pamela Clarke is serving as interim head of school until Lewis takes over.
