Durham, n.h. — Evan Horn and Rick Ellison returned interceptions for first-half touchdowns and New Hampshire upset James Madison 35-24 on Saturday.

The Dukes (6-3, 4-2 Colonial Athletic Association), ranked third in the FCS coaches poll, outgained UNH 486-315, but had six turnovers, including four interceptions while the Wildcats were turnover-free and had five sacks.

Trevor Knight added two touchdown passes and a 75-yard scramble up the middle to make it 35-10 in the fourth quarter for the Wildcats (3-6, 2-4), who opened the season with four losses. Knight finished with 181 yards passing and 76 rushing.

Harvard 52, Columbia 18

Allston, Mass. — Tom Stewart passed for 393 yards and a school record-tying five touchdowns, including the three longest scoring strikes in Harvard history, and the Crimson rolled over Columbia.

Stewart tossed the Crimson’s longest TD pass — a 92-yarder to Jack Cook on their first play from scrimmage — and added scoring strikes of 75 yards to Tyler Adams and 74 yards to Aaron Shampklin. The senior quarterback had 250 yards passing in the first quarter as Harvard (4-4, 2-3) grabbed a 21-6 lead.

Shampklin, the Ivy League’s top rusher, finished with 92 yards and his ninth rushing TD of the season.

Ty Lenhart passed for 203 yards and a TD with two interceptions — both by Harvard’s Wes Ogsbury — for the Lions (4-4, 1-4).

Yale 46, Brown 16

New Haven, Conn. — Griffin O’Connor threw for 436 yards and four touchdowns as Yale dominated Brown.

Yale (5-3, 3-2 Ivy League), which fell to Columbia by one touchdown last week, has won three of its last four games. The Bulldogs accumulated 598 total yards while limiting Brown (1-7, 0-5) to 331.

Holy Cross 40, Lafayette 14

Worcester, Mass. — Domenic Cozier ran for three touchdowns, Geoff Wade threw for two scores and Holy Cross (3-6, 2-2 Patriot League) smashed Lafayette (3-6, 2-3).

Maine 35, Towson 28

Towson, Md. — Ramon Jefferson ran for a late touchdown and the defense stopped Towson just shy of the goal line as Maine (6-3, 5-1 CAA) prevailed.

Elon 24, Rhode Island 21

Elon, n.c. — Freshman Jaylan Thomas ran for 222 yards — the eighth-biggest game in Elon history — and scored a touchdown to help the Phoenix (6-2, 4-1 CAA) turn back Rhode Island (5-4, 3-3).

Plymouth St. 28, Fitchburg St. 0

Holderness, n.h. — David Hamilton ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns as Plymouth State 96-3) dominayed Fitchburg State (1-8).

Middlebury 35, Hamilton 17

Clinton, n.y. — Will Jernigan threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns — two to Frank Cosolito — as Middlebury (5-3) upended Hamilton (2-6).

MIT 20, Norwich 0

Northfield, Vt. — Ashton Robinson ran for 87 yards and a touchdown as MIT (7-1) dominated Norwich (3-5) in the Cadets’ home finale.

Dean 19, Castleton 17

Franklin, Mass. — DeAndre Grange scored two touchdowns to help Dean (4-5, 3-2 ECFC) over Castleton (1-8. 0-5), which got 102 rushing yards from Moe Harris.

New Haven 49, Saint Anselm 21

West Haven, Conn. — Ajee Patterson threw four touchdown passes and Nyshere Woodson ran for two scores to lead New Haven (8-1) past Saint Anselm (1-7).
