Mitchell covered the boys course in 17 minutes, 50 seconds to pace three Hurricanes in the top 10. Lucas Benson claimed ninth for Hartford (19:34), with John Kasten one spot behind him (20:03). Drew Boyce was 12th (23:34) and Thomas Kasten took 32nd (23:24) for the Canes, and all five runners ran in personal-best times. Windsor’s Justin Smith was third with a time of 18:26.
“It was an amazing race today, especially on the boys’ side,” Hartford co-coach Katie Hluchyj said. “Both the boys and girls teams, we saw such improvement over the course of the season.”
Windsor swept to the win in the girls race behind McKeen (22:44) and Page (22:54). Olivia Rockwood (fifth, 23:37) and Belle Moulton (ninth, 24:32) completed Windsor’s tally. Missing a handful of runners due to illness, Hartford took fourth place with Katie Trombley (sixth, 23:52) leading the way.
Hartford and Windsor will compete at Hanover on Friday, with the state championship meet at Thetford Academy set for Oct. 27.

Thetford Boys Take MVL Crown

Mount Anthony’s Evan Page (16:31) nipped Woodstock ace Riley Shepherd by one second for the win before Thetford took over. Owen Deffner (16:40) was third, Bel Spelman took eighth (17:30) and Eamon Deffner claimed ninth (17:35) to set the table for TA. Jacob Slaughter (12th, 17:56) and Jason Wolstenholme (19th, 18:34) completed the Panthers’ victory.
Owen Coates placed fourth (17:07) for the Wasps, who were fourth as a team.
Host Bellows Falls dominated the girls race, taking team honors behind freshman winner Abby Broadley (18:53). Sidney Pilot paced third-place Woodstock by finishing in fourth place in 19:40, with Victoria Bassette claiming seventh (20:09). Eloise Silver-Van Meter topped the list for Thetford by placing 11th in 20:59.

Lacey McNeel sealed the win on a breakaway late in the game. Eliza Bates had two assists, and McNeel and Selena Coronis each had one. Kelsey Wheeler made seven saves to earn her first playoff win.
Newport (8-7-0) travels to second-ranked Hopkinton on Friday.

Haley Wood owned the former mark of 21 from 2014. She’s currently a senior forward on the Bryant University field hockey team.
Lori Kenyon held the record through the 1980s, before current coach Jody (Farnsworth) Wood claimed it in 1992. Haley Wood is Jody Wood’s daughter.
“To be the player, to be the player’s mom and to be the player’s coach (to own the record) is such a remarkable feeling,” the Windsor coach said in an email. “I am so grateful!”
Peyton Richardson also scored twice for Windsor, which picked up a Hannah Wood goal as well. Winners of four straight, the Jacks (10-3-0) host Otter Valley on Saturday to close the regular season.

Woodstock opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a 25-yard Olivia Marsicovetere blast. Hartford forced extra time when Carolyn North converted an Abby Koff corner kick with 12 minutes left in regulation.
After a scoreless opening 10 minutes of extra time, Woodstock’s Novah Conway drew a foul just outside the Hartford penalty area to set up Leggett’s chance. Leggett beat a six-player wall and drove a shot into the low corner of the goal behind Hartford netminder Kaylyn Bills (seven saves).
Woodstock coach Greg LaBella praised his back line of Audrey Eggum, Addie Gray (one assist), Bitty Alexander (in her first varsity start) and Celia Burrington for their defensive work. Twin sisters Ava and Eliza Dotson had key wing midfield roles in the overtime for the Wasps.
Hartford hosts Springfield today. Woodstock goes to Rivendell on Thursday, then closes MVL play at home against Springfield on Saturday night.

Sarah Britton set up Sarkis’ goal with a pass from the corner. Sarkis settled the bouncing ball before turning and delivering the only strike of the match from 17 yards out.
McKenzie Dennis posted a six-save shutout. Woodsville visits Groveton for a makeup contest today, then hosts Gorham in its regular-season finale on Friday.

Casey MacVeagh opened the scoring for Thetford before Powers took over. MacVeagh posted an assist on Power’s second strike. Northfield-Williamstown solved TA goalkeeper Emma Berard (four saves) in the second half but couldn’t repeat the feat.

Bow scored 11 minutes in on a free kick, to which Hanover answered when Charlotte Johnson converted Pepper Joseph’s corner-kick assist in the 76th minute. Bella Bardales finished with seven saves for the Marauders.
Hanover, which shared third place in D-II, visits John Stark on Thursday and Lebanon on Friday.

Riley Eastman got Sharon on the board in the ninth minute, finishing a Skeet-Browning pass. The junior midfielder did the rest of the scoring from there, converting a 19th-minute penalty kick, knocking home an Ever Toffel feed in the 28th minute and completing his trifecta on an unassisted strike in the final two minutes of regulation. Twinfield scored on a Remy Maas goal in the 36th minute but missed a PK in the 48th.
Ben Rodis stopped seven shots for TSA, which hosts Twinfield to close the regular season on Thursday.

Johnny Vogelien (two goals, one assist) and Charlie Bradley (one goal, two assists) both had three-point days to back up Gould. Merle Russell scored Rivendell’s other goal, and freshman Chris Pierce added an assist for his first varsity point.
Zach Dexter and Owen Mansur shared an eight-save shutout for the Raptors, who host Danville on Thursday.

Min Purvis struck twice on restarts, on a penalty kick and a direct kick, to pace the visitors. Isaac Emery, Emilio Montano and Taylor Plourde also scored for Woodstock, which picked up its other score on an own goal following an Emery delivery.
Alex Rice earned his portion of the shutout with two second-half saves following a rocking-chair opening half for starting netminder Steven Bianchi.
The Wasps carry a four-match winning streak into Thursday’s senior night contest with Mill River.

Mascoma held a 20-10 edge in shots, managing just a Dylan Pelton goal in the final minute of play. Garrett Davis and Ben Seiler earned assists. Eli Dupigny scored both InterLakes goals on breakaways.
“We had to win tonight,” Mascoma coach Keli Green said. “I’d like to end the season on a high note. We were playing tremendous soccer three weeks ago, (but) we hit a slump.”
Mascoma, which has dropped its last six matches, closes with Winnisquam at home today.

Isaac Lafayette scored Newport’s lone goal, on a second-half assist from Cooper Skarin. Garrett Harold “did a great job in goal going after the ball,” Newport coach Caleb Godwin noted, with a slick surface playing a role in at least one Franklin score.
Concord Christian visits Newport to close the regular season on Thursday.

Dartmouth earned just 21 points in Tuesday’s survey to trail its seven league partners. Harvard took 12 of 18 first-place votes to hold down the top spot with 137 points. Penn claimed five first-place ballots and 122 points, and Yale drew the remaining first-place vote and 115 points. Princeton (92), Brown (64), Cornell (54) and Columbia 43) completed the poll.
Dartmouth opens its campaign on Nov. 6 against Newbury College.
Broom Makes ITA Finals

Broom defeated Columbia’s Jack Mingjie Lin, 6-4, 6-3, in the semifinals before dropping a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Volfson. Broom is the first Dartmouth player to make the ITA Fall finals since Dovydas Sakinis in 2015.
Dartmouth hosts the Dartmouth Invitational this weekend.
