Windsor, Vt. —
She was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Elsie (Adams) Kieffer and Paul Andrew Kieffer. Her primary and secondary education was in Topeka. Afterwards, the family moved to a farm near Kutztown, Pa. Subsequently, Evelyn joined her brother, Lewis, and his wife, Earlla, in Brunswick, Ga. For 39 years she worked in the laboratory of Hercules Powder Company and she was active in the First Presbyterian Church of St. Simons Island. In 2000, Evelyn moved to Windsor, to be near her niece, Annette L. Silver, her grandnephew, Scott, and his wife and their children.
Throughout the years she enjoyed needlework and quilting. She became a master of needlepoint hangings and pictures, art which graces the family homes. Additionally, the quilts she designed, as well as her collection of quilts created by family members for generations, are also treasured by her surviving family. During Evelyn’s time in the Village, she developed strong relationships with residents and staff, and a love for Vermont.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the excellent care and companionship provided by the staff of Cedar Hill and Bayada Hospice.
The family appreciated the efforts of The Knight Funeral Home of Windsor, and the Mae. A. Stump Funeral Home of Fleetwood, Pa., for coordinating the arrangements for her final rest in Fleetwood.
