Cornish — Police say the 24-year-old driver of a rented box truck that struck the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge last week is now facing criminal charges for leaving the accident scene.

Tymon Teichroeb, of Albany, Ore., was charged with one count of conduct after an accident, after turning himself into police on Sunday. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bail and given a Sept. 17 date to appear in Claremont District Court, according to a New Hampshire State Police news release.

A witness to the accident, which caused minor damage on the bridge, provided police with the rental truck’s license plate, which ultimately led troopers to Teichroeb, the release said.

The bridge was closed briefly after the accident, until state inspectors determined the damage was not structural and limited to the façade of the entrance to the bridge on the New Hampshire side, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The accident was the second time in less than a month that the historic bridge was struck by a large truck.

The bridge is marked with a maximum height of 9 feet, 2 inches, the release said.
