Woodstock
The event is a fundraiser put on by the Friends of the Norman William Public Library. This year, organizers are hoping to raise enough money to fund the purchase of several new laptops for the public to use at the library, all while having a great time.
“Beyond holding a successful fundraiser, our goal has always been to cement the connection between the library and the community — not just the Woodstock community, but also all our visitors from across Vermont and, frankly, all over the world,” said Peggy Fraser, president of the Friends of the Norman William Public Library.
All pups who are registered will parade on the green, before being judged in unconventional categories: Most Precious Petite, Mightiest Mid-Size, Gentle Giant, Ms. Fashionista, Mr. Beau Geste, and Ms. or Mr. Congeniality. Best in Show will be awarded to the pup who elicits the loudest response from the audience.
“I have to tell you that we have tons of laughter, especially because our show categories are not serious competition, and also because we have the most dedicated group of volunteers you can imagine,” Fraser said.
The Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society will be present at the event, and there will be a raffle. Hot dogs and drinks will be sold.
Anyone can come watch the event and help judge the Best in Show. However, people who want their pups to participate in the show must register ahead of time, since no registration will take place on the day of the event. Registration will close on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. Registration costs $15, and all participating dogs will get a ribbon and a bandana.
