Testing of water from an emergency water main bypass that was installed Thursday found there are no bacteria in the affected area, Fire Chief Chief Chris Christopoulos said via email today.
The boil water order was issued as a precaution, and to comply with state environmental regulations, after the emergency main bypass was installed near the Mascoma Street neighborhood because of ongoing construction and “unforeseen complications” with part of the city’s long-term combined sewer overflow project, the fire chief said.
