Friends of Veterans Provides Record Amount of Assistance

White River Junction — Friends of Veterans, a White River Junction organization that provides support to veterans in need, was able to give more assistance in 2017 than during any other year in the organization’s 30-year history.

In 2017, the organization gave out $134,775, in assistance to veterans and their families in Vermont and New Hampshire. This was a 43 percent increase over the previous year. The organization provides veterans with home repairs, paying utilities and obtaining service dogs.

On June 4, Friends of Veterans will hold its annual fundraiser at the Baker Hill Golf Club in Newbury. During the sold-out event three combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder will attend with their service dogs and answer questions about how their service dog assists them daily.
