Hanover — Dartmouth College’s men’s basketball team will take part in the second annual Belfast Classic in SSE Arena in Belfast, Ireland next season, part of an eight-team tournament between Nov. 29 and Dec. 1.

The tournament, made possible by the Sport Changes Life Foundation in partnership with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, also feature Albany, Buffalo, LIU Brooklyn, Marist, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, San Francisco and Stephen F. Austin.

“We are extremely excited to be a part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic this year,” Dartmouth head coach David McLaughlin said in a statement. “Not only does this give our players and program an opportunity to compete against other talented programs, but to do so on an international stage. We are looking forward to competing in Belfast as well as experiencing a different culture. This is a great addition to our unique and competitive schedule for the 2018-19 season.”

Brackets and exact schedules will be announced at a later date.

Women’s Sailing

Big Green Seventh At ICSA Nationals

Norfolk, Va. — Dartmouth finished in seventh place out of 18 teams after day one of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Championship in the Sperry Women’s Western Semifinals hosted by Old Dominion University.

The group of women representing the Big Green competed in four races for both Division A and Division B in the opening day of the regatta, finishing with 106 points. In the Division A, Dartmouth finished in the top four with 55 points and the top eight in Division B with 51 points.

The best nine teams from each semifinal will move on, after another round of races slated for today to determine who will compete in Thursday’s finals. The College of Charleston leads the Western Division with 44 points. Yale leads the Eastern Division with 58 points. Dartmouth currently sits behind Ivy League foes Harvard, in second place, and Penn, in fifth.

Boys Tennis

Hanover 6, Exeter 3

Hanover — Third-seeded Hanover (14-1) knocked off No. 6 Exeter in the first round of the NHIAA Division I Tournament at Dartmouth’s Boss Tennis Center.

Matty Siegel (8-1), Lincoln Adam (8-4) and Trevor Siegel (8-2) were the Marauders’ singles winners, while the doubles pairings of Aidan Biglow/Jasper Meyer (8-5), Siegel/Siegel (8-5) and Adam/Chris Lee (8-4) earned a sweep.

“The best match of the night was watching Lincoln play with Chris at third doubles, where Chris stepped up due to another player’s illness to fill a large role in the clinching match to send us to the semis,” Hanover coach Jarrod Shaheen said in an email.

The Marauders will play the winner of today’s first-round match between No. 2 Bedford and No. 7 Nashua South in Thursday’s semifinal.

Girls Lacrosse

Hanover 18, CVU 7

Hanover — Maddie McCorkle had seven goals, one assist and 11 draw controls as Hanover (7-8) knocked off Champlain Valley, the top-ranked team in Vermont Division I (13-2).

Jasmine Lou added four goals and an assist for the Marauders, while Jessica Seibel had two goals and four assists. Cate Wagner scored twice and Miranda Galbraith, Wylie Lucas and Maggie Lee had a goal apiece. Sabin Mitchell and Perrin Milliken each assisted.

Kaitlyn Hurd made 10 saves in goal for Hanover, which greets Londonderry today.

Lebanon 6, Plymouth 5

Plymouth, n.h. — The Raiders (5-8) earned their second consecutive victory during a rainy game with numerous turnovers, but will fail to qualify for the NHIAA Division III playoffs for a second straight season.

Izzy Peress had two goals and an assist, Jessie Hastings had two goals and Megan Gradijan and Emma Hansen each had one. Lena Nowell made 13 saves for the Raiders, who conclude their campaign Friday at Kearsarge (10-5). The Cougars have won their last six games and eight of their last nine.

H.S. Baseball

Oxbow 8, Lyndon 7

Bradford, vt. — The O’s scored seven runs on six consecutive hits in the second inning and held off a seventh-inning rally to improve to 9-4.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak and brings Oxbow one step closer to clinching home field advantage for the playoffs for the first time since 2011. Cody Grant struck out four and allowed six hits over 6⅓ innings. The Vikings scored five runs in the seventh to cut the lead to one. Jace Page got the last two outs to secure the win.

The Olympians travel to U-32 today.

Whitcomb-Rochester 12Twinfield 9 (5)

Marshfield, Vt. — Gabriel Feeney stole three bases and scored three runs as Whitcomb-Rochester defeated Twinfield in a rain-shortened game.

Feeney also had a hit and walked twice. Timber Russell was 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs scored. Russell also pitched and struck out nine while going the distance.

H.S. Softball

Marshfield, Vt.— Fiona Vaillancourt had four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored as Whitcomb-Rochester (12-1) won a mercy rule-shortened game.

Vaillancourt also pitched three innings of one-hit, five-strikeout relief to earn the win.

Emily Bean, Kayla Townsend and Anna Smith each had two hits and three RBIs for the Mountaineers, who visit Thetford on Thursday.
