In a bona fide pitchers’ duel between the Tigers’ Lacey McNeel and Wildcat ace Chloe Vogel, the Tigers laid down three bunts in the top of the ninth inning — two of them singles — to spearhead a 1-0 win in nine frames.
McNeel led off witih a bunt single and moved from first base to third on a hit-and-run with Kendall Hamilton laying down a sacrifice bunt.
Fall Mountain intentionally walked Stacia Dame, who stole second before Alyssa Burr made the Cats pay. Burr’s squeeze bunt brought home McNeel with the game’s only run.
McNeel struck out the side in order in the home half of the ninth inning. Dame had two hits in the game.
It was the first victory by fewer than three runs this season for Newport, which is 12-0. Fall Mountain is 5-7.
Both pitchers allowed just four hits during complete games. McNeel struck out 14 batters and walked two.Vogel fanned 12 and walked one. The Tigers visit Conant on Wednesday.

Chelsie Trask pitched the first three innings in game one, striking out four. Jordan Galluzo was 2-for-3 with a RBI and Emily Bean was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Fiona Vaillancourt pitched in relief in game one and went all seven innings in game two, striking out 11 while walking six and allowing 10 hits. Vaillancourt was also 4-for-4 in game two, with a triple and three RBIs. Kayla Townsend had an RBI single.
The Mountaineers trailed, 8-7, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning when Galluzo cleared the bases with a three-run double to give the hosts a 10-8 lead. Whitchester would add two more runs in the frame to lead, 12-8.
The Mountaineers visit South Royalton today.

Lexy Merrill and Ava Sutton each had two hits for the Jacks, while Carah Rugg allowed six hits and three walks and four strikeouts.

Kaitlyn Chambers (double), Ellee Grenier and Lapsley each had two hits each for the Cardinals. Bella Bardales had an RBI triple and Arabella Meacham-Snyder went 1-for-2 with two runs scored for the Marauders (3-10).
Becca Wilson (two-plus innings, three walks) and Sam Gibbs (two strikeouts, two walks) pitched for Hanover.
Both teams play again Monday, Stevens visiting Kearsarge while the Marauders host Monadnock.

Morgan Wagstaff was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Woodsville. McKenzie Dennis was 2-for-3 with a run driven in. Suzie Bazzell had a two-run triple.

Horniak struck out three batters and added a RBI double at the plate. Harlee Gray had a two-run double. Thetford had eight hits and hosts Randolph on Tuesday.

Woodstock led, 4-0, early and got strong days from Emma Walker (2-for-4, triple, four runs) and Cassie Hill (2-for-4, double).

Braxton McNulty went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run double in the third inning to make it 5-0. Moises Celaya was 2-for-2 and Marcus Hampers was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Marauders.
Hanover (8-4) plays at first-place John Stark on Monday.

Alex Bushway pitched a complete game for the Hurricanes, giving up seven hits and allowing three walks while striking out a pair of Raiders.
Hartford (3-9) finishes the regular season with three games next week, beginning Monday against Mount Anthony.

“It was another hard loss, we’ve had a lot of them like this,” said Lebanon coach Doug Ashey, whose team hosts Milford on Monday.
Pelletier added a two-run single. Derek Griffin had two doubles, a single, two runs scored and one RBI. Kobe Benoit was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Thetford twice had the bases loaded but didn’t score. The Panthers manufactured a run with Owen Deffner on first base and Aiden Cudhea on third. Deffner took off for second, distracting the pitcher and allowing Cudhea to come home for a run.
“We had our chances, but we were kind of searching for that big base hit and just weren’t able to come up with it,” said Thetford coach Phil Chaput.
Seth Boyce pitched the first five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks while fanning two. Eamon Deffner pitched two innings of relief, striking out two. The Panthers host Randolph on Tuesday.

Zach Moore went the first 2 ⅔ innings for Woodsville, striking out seven. Cooper Davidson added five strikeouts in 2⅓ innings and Tyren Hartford fanned three in two innings.
Davidson was 2-for-3 and had a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Seanon May had a two-run shot in the first inning. Travis Stoddard was 3-for-3.
Woodsville hosts Blue Mountain on Monday.

Grenier threw just 54 pitches, struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Offensively, he added a pair of runs, drove in one and stole two bases.
Shortstop Tyler Bonneau was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Josh Stithen had a two-run, two-out single during the third inning. The Cardinals would add five more runs in the frame. Trey Theriault had a single, a double and a RBI.
The Cardinals visit Kearsarge on Monday.

Mitchell had a two-run double in the sixth inning and finished with a pair of hits. Mitchell struck out seven and allowed only three hits in seven innings of work on the mound. Stephen Bianchi added an RBI double. Owen Spann had a single, scored a run and had a pair of stolen bases.
“It was nice to actually get a rally when it mattered. Their pitcher (Kyle Hedgepeth) did a good job keeping us off balance all game,” Woodstock coach Jason Tarleton said.
Hedgepeth took the hard-luck loss for the Phoenix (5-5), surrendering five hits in a complete game. Hedgepeth added a single. Aidan Trimble had an RBI single for the Phoenix in the third inning.
Woodstock visits Poultney on Monday and Sharon hosts Rivendell on Wednesday.

Four KUA errors in the decisive third inning did not help the hosts’ cause. KUA scored three runs in the second inning and chipped away with two more each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Kyle Hammond, Jeremy Sigl, Andrew Hadlock and Will Engelhardt each had two hits for the Wildcats (10-3).

“We came out flat, with no sense of urgency,” said Newport coach Jon Hamel. “We had a great game from our pitcher, Kyle Rossiter, but we let him down with lack of hitting and (poor) defense.”
Rossiter struck out 12 with no walks, allowing five hits and one earned run.
Kendall Heath started for Fall Mountain and was playing second base when he gunned down Cody Turgeon (lead-off triple) at the plate on a key play.
Kyle Fish and Jared Meyette had a hit and a run each for Newport, whose final regular season game is Wednesday at Conant.

Daniel Cardillo and Ryland Richardson had the hits, while Robert Slocum (3⅓ innings, eight hits, nine runs, five earned runs, two strikeouts, four walks) took the loss.
The Yellowjackets have three games next week to conclude the regular season, beginning Monday at Springfield.

Reece Thompson had two goals and one assist, Jacob Derosier added two goals and Joe Batchelder, Logan Raymond, Adam Parker and Trevor Robbins all scored once for the Canes.

Sam Powers rallied to win his singles match, 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. Ethan Earle added a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 victory. Carl Gebhardt survived a marathon match, winning 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 11-9.
“It was a long afternoon, but it was fun. I told the guys, if you can win tiebreakers, you can matches. They did a really good job staying focused. If they lost a point, they would come right back and win the next,” Woodstock coach Dave Miles said.
Gardner Gottsegen and Henry Greene added a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win in their doubles match. Blake Heston and Gabe Bango won 6-2, 7-6 (7-0).
Woodstock visits Burr & Burton on Monday.
Hanover 5, Concord 4
Hanover
Matty Siegel won 8-5 at No. 1 singles and Trevor Siegel added his own 8-5 win at No. 5 singles. Aidan Biglow (8-6) and Will Tarnowski (8-5) also won in singles to help Hanover lead, 4-2, heading into doubles. The Siegels then partnered for a 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the match.
Lincoln Adam lost in a tiebreaker at No. 4 singles, 8-9 (1-7). The other two doubles matches were also in doubt until the final games.
Hanover will likely be the No. 3 seed in the NHIAA Division I playoffs and will open at home on Tuesday.

Woodstock won all 10 singles matches going away. Momo Biele, Katie MacMaster, Olivia Marsicovetere, Lydia Howe and Chloe Noble all won singles matches to start the afternoon. Grace Frazier, Kenzie Biele, Marsicovetere, Howe and Lilly Holding all won in singles in the second match.
The doubles partnership of Juliana Beraldi and Izzy Hiller won a pair of matches.
Woodstock hosts Burr & Burton on Monday.
