Hartland, Vt. — Lee S. Abernethy, 82, died on Saturday, May 12, 2018, following a long illness. He was born on May 13, 1935, in Bakersfield, Vt., the son of N. Bartlett and Virginia Anna (Soule) Abernethy. Lee graduated from Essex High School in 1953 and attended Champlain College. He married Sally Ann Ross on Oct. 13, 1956, in Essex Junction, Vt.

In recent years, Lee owned Sugarbush Logs Associates in Hartland, until his retirement in 2010.

Lee was a lifelong summer resident at Lake Carmi and cherished time spent there with family and friends.

Lee is survived by his wife Sally; they were married for 61 years. Also survived by a daughter Anne Bonneville and husband David of Claremont, N.H.; son Craig Abernethy and his wife Maria of Wilmington, Mass. and son David Abernethy and wife Julie of Hartland; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery in Essex Junction, Vt.
