Hanover — The Dartmouth College softball team completed a three-game sweep of Cornell, and left itself in position to have a big say about the Ivy League postseason, with a 10-0 blanking of the Big Red on Tuesday afternoon at Dartmouth Softball Park.

The game, following the Big Green’s doubleheader sweep on Saturday, had been postponed on Sunday by a forecast of snow.

Cornell (11-18, 6-6) returned to Ithaca, N.Y., only to have to drive back to Hanover for a game that took just 65 minutes and five mercy-rule innings for Dartmouth (15-14, 9-3) to capture.

Senior Tiffany Dyson, junior Taylor Ward and freshman Schae Nelson each scored twice, while Nelson and sophomore Calista Almer drove in three runs apiece.

“I think that today was a nice performance,” Dartmouth coach Shannon Doepking said in a news release. “Cornell is a good offensive team, and we talked about putting at least eight runs on the board so as to not give them too much of a chance.”

Senior Breanna Ethridge (5-6) pitched four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out five. Freshman Shelby Wilkison threw a perfect fifth inning to complete the shutout.

The Big Green trails only Harvard (18-12, 11-4) in the Ivy standings heading into a three-game road set with the Crimson. Columbia (17-16, 9-6) is the only other league team with a winning league record heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.

The top two teams in regular-season play meet in the best-of-three Ivy League championship series next month, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Campbell 15, Hanover 1 (5)

Litchfield, n.h. — Emilee Jones drove in Mollie Broder in the top of the third inning and Hanover’s defense held Campbell to a 2-1 lead before the floodgates opened up in the fourth.

Marauders sophomore starting pitcher Sam Gibbs held Campbell to only two runs through three innings before the Cougars pulled away, scoring 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior pitcher Becca Wilson entered in the fourth, but Hanover’s offense couldn’t find a way to keep the game alive.

Hanover (0-2) is scheduled to host Fall Mountain at 4:30 p.m today.
