Lebanon, N.H. —
Born and raised in Fall River, Mass., he attended Dartmouth College, graduating with the class of 1946. He received his DDS from Harvard Dental School in 1948, and his medical degree in 1950 from Harvard Medical School. He was at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover from 1953-56 for his residency in urology and practiced urology for 32 years in Haverhill, Mass. retiring from Urology Associates in 1988.
Bob and Dorothy Swett Clifton were married in 1950. They raised their family in Andover, Mass. and retired to Westport, Mass. and Naples, Fla. They celebrated their 61st anniversary before Dot’s passing in 2011.
He resided for the past year and a half at the Harvest Hill Retirement Community in Lebanon where he was well accommodated by the wonderful staff. He made a special new friend there, Ellen Naney, who was a helpful and supportive companion to Bob every day.
Dr. Clifton’s hobbies included traveling, lobstering off the coast of Westport, playing golf including at Acoaxet Club on his 93rd birthday, joking and teasing those around him always with a dry sense of humor, and researching definitions in the dictionary and locations in an atlas.
