Leslie Joy (Kelton) Wells was born in Bellows Falls, Vt. to Carl “Charlie” E Kelton and Shirley (Randall) Kelton on Feb. 7, 1946, while her dad was serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. She graduated from Hartford High School in 1964, attended Dean Junior College, College of Saint Joseph’s The Provider and graduated from Norwich University.
She is survived by her soul mate of 37 years, the love of her life and best friend, her husband Tim Wells; her mother Shirley R. Kelton of Springfield, Vt.; her loving daughter Sarah Joy Ballou and a very special granddaughter Georgia Grace Ballou of Putney, Vt.; stepdaughter Joddy Mitchell and spouse Doug of Hollis, N.H.; a special aunt Joan Lake of Grafton, Vt.; her big brother Alfred Kelton and wife Carol of Wilder, Vt. and their children Leslie’s namesake “Little Leslie” the twins “the Bugs” Justin and Thane; her brother Carl “Bodie” Kelton and his wife Kim of W. Hartford, Vt. and their children Carl III and Caleb; her brother Vernon C. Kelton and Doreen of Westminster and their children Liz and Mallary; and by her great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Carl “Charlie” E. Kelton with whom she had a very special bond. She missed him terribly.
She and her husband worked together for 37 years. She was a registered Law Clerk, Certified Martial Mediator, and Children’s Advocate oftentimes serving as Guardian Ad Litem. Leslie was an avid reader and loved discussing with Tim the different books they read together. She loved her family more than anything and enjoyed and loved just being in her home. She was a most generous and caring person, a strong independent woman whose smile was genuine and she always had an optimistic outlook on life and brought out the best in the people she loved and cared for. She loved ad adored her granddaughter Georgia Grace. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour at Mission Farm in Killington, Vt.
There will be calling hours 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with service beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 all at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt. Burial will take place in the spring, place and date to be announced.
