Placida, Fla. — Philip Bruce Lape, 82, of Palm Island, Placida and Treasure Island, Sorrento, Maine passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2017, at the Florida Tidwell Hospice House, Venice.

He will be remembered with love especially by his wife, Ann, and his children, Peter and Hannah, and grandchildren Jazmine, Nicholas and Isabel as well as by many nieces and nephews and so many friends he made throughout his life.

Inventor, Captain of Industry, Photographer and Skipper of many boats, big and small, sail and motor, especially his newest, a 14’ rowboat, Simplicity, which he loved and rowed every morning in the calm of Flanders Bay, Maine.

Phil was a man of unbounded generosity, patience, and kindness. A renaissance man of many talents with a wonderfully contagious and spontaneous laugh who loved and lived life to the fullest, inspiring so many to do the same. Although no longer physically here, his spirit lives on through everyone he touched.

Contributions in his memory may be made to The Maine Seacoast Mission, Bar Harbor, Maine or The Island Institute, Rockland, Maine. The family will host a celebration of Phil’s life in Sorrento, Maine, in summer 2018, date and location to be announced.
