Randolph, Vt. — Susan L. Mascola, 60, of Randolph died Saturday morning, Dec. 23, 2017 at her home.

She was born March 18, 1957 in Barre, Vt., the daughter of William & Delores (Neidhart) Allen.  She was raised in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1975.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Norwich University in 1981, and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of Phoenix.  Susan had been director of the Childhood Development Center in Crailsheim, Germany, and was the Director of the Robin’s Nest at Gifford Medical Center for 26 years.  

Susan was awarded the Program Director Credentials with Specialization in Early Childhood Programs from the Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center in 2012.  She was married to Gerard “Jerry” D. Mascola Jr. at Norwich University on June 5, 1981.  They lived in Barre until moving to Randolph in 1993.  She loved quilting and reading with her loving dog, Sophie.  She held a special place in her heart for the children in her care.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Randolph; daughter Jessie Mascola of Randolph; son J. D. Mascola of Winooski; brother Bill Allen of Keene, N.H., and sister Deborah Dinagan of East Swanzey, N.H.; an uncle, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28th at the Day Funeral Home, with Pastor Thomas Harty, officiating.  Calling hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Spring at Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Robins Nest Children Enrichment Center at Gifford, 44 So.
