Jordan Warburton (120), Garrett Harold (126), Marius Edwards (132 pounds), Josh Sharron (138), Dylan Palmer (160) and Gavin Lovely (182) all won for the Tigers, who also won three matches by forfeit.
“It always feels good to start the season with a solid win,” Newport coach Cole Boone said in an email. “We matched up well against Kearsarge, and I was pleased with the guys who stepped up when we bumped them to different weight classes. Josh Sharron and Garrett Harold had tough matches that resulted in two close decisions in our favor.”
Newport will compete in the Con-Val Early Bird Tournament on Saturday.

Timberlake went 8-for-10 from beyond the 3-point line for the Wildcats, who were 18-for-26 from the floor in the first half and shot 60 percent from the field for the night.
