Thetford, Vt. — Royce C. Bond, a longtime resident of Thetford, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 at Hanover Terrace following a period of declining health. He was 89 years old.

Born on Dec. 6, 1927, he was the son of William E. and Kathleen D. (Palmer) Bond.

Royce grew up on the family farm in Thetford and was a 1946 graduate of Thetford Academy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952 and was stationed in Iceland.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies for many years and did snowplowing and mowing in retirement.

He also served 13 years on the Thetford Planning Board and was a member of the Thetford American Legion Post # 79.

Survivors include a sister, Shirley Maclay and her husband, Thomas of Marshfield, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in North Thetford.
