Sunapee, N.H. —
She was born in Boston, Mass. on March 23, 1947 the daughter of Leonard F. and Helen (Goodale) Johnson.
Karen graduated from Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing, Jamaica Plain, Mass. in 1968. She moved to Sunapee, N.H. in 1978 and worked for the Newport Hospital briefly. From 1986 until her retirement in 2012 she was a registered nurse for Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association.
She was a member of the Lake Sunapee United Methodist Church and Friends of Abbott Library in Sunapee. Karen enjoyed singing and was a member of the Time Travellers.
She was predeceased by her husband, David Atwood. She is survived by two children, Mindy Atwood of Sunapee, N.H. and Jonathan and his wife, Amanda Atwood of Morrisville, Vt. and three grandchildren, David, Jacob and Tyler; and two brothers and their wives, William and Elaina Johnson and Russell and Kathy Johnson all of Columbia, N.H.; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Eastman Cemetery, Sunapee, N.H.
