HANOVER — Kendal at Hanover has a new CEO.

Keith Grady is scheduled to begin his tenure at the Hanover-based retirement community that has around 400 residents on Nov. 2, according to the nonprofit organization. He previously spent 12 years leading Applewood Village, a retirement community in Freehold, N.J.

“His extensive background in nonprofit senior living gives us confidence that he is well prepared to build on the existing strong foundation and help guide Kendal at Hanover into the future,” Bob Kline-Schoder, chair of the Kendal at Hanover Board of Directors, said in the release. “We are confident we have found an excellent leader for our community.”

Grady earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management from American InterContinental University and is currently working toward a master’s degree in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts, according to the organization.

“In both my professional and personal lives, I have been mindful every day of the responsibility we carry to care for others and the impact we have on the environment we share,” Grady said in the release. “I believe in leading together: respecting people, tapping into the very essence of who they are, and bringing out the best in each of us by inspiring one another.”

He replaces Beth Vettori, who left her post in September after leading Kendal for around eight years. Jeff Roosevelt, director of community relations & marketing, said Vettori relocated to the West Coast for family reasons. David Urso, Kendal at Hanover’s chief operating officer, has been serving as interim CEO since Vettori’s departure.

Kendal at Hanover formed a CEO search committee and conducted a national search for Vettori’s replacement, according to the release.

“We’re grateful for the leadership that has brought us to this point and confident in the foundation it provides for the future,” Jay Pierson, president of Kendal at Hanover’s Residents Council, said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming Keith and working with him as we begin this next chapter, together.”
