Meriden, N.H. —
Marcia was born to Roland and Barbara Stone on Jan. 18, 1946, in Lebanon, N.H., the second youngest of seven children. Marcia married Richard Swett—about whom she was known to say, “Richard, I’m glad I married you; I had my doubts”—in the Meriden Congregational Church on Nov. 26, 1966, and together they raised their three children, Connie, Cindy, and Timothy. For 47 of their 51 years of marriage, Marcia operated her daycare—with help from Richard—having the great pleasure of seeing hundreds of Meriden, Plainfield, and Cornish children through their early years.
In her spare time, Marcia loved to quilt, completing more than 200 hand-sewn treasures that were promptly delivered to friends and family or tucked safely away for the special occasions that she knew were yet to come. Nearly every year, Marcia and Richard vacationed with family in Cape Cod, where Richard could fish and Marcia could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as they scoured the seashores for sea glass, watched the sunsets, and chatted happily around family meals—and always taking a moment to find the nearest Christmas Tree Shoppe with a future craft project or gift in mind.
Above all, Marcia loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always so glad to see them. Even with changes brought by time and distance, Marcia’s thoughts were never far from Curtis, Miranda, Nicki, Brittney, Catelynn, Katrina, Desiree, Theodore, Daisy, Maggie, Nandy, Naila, and Jonathan, her grandchildren, and Marques, Spencer, and Scarlett, her great-grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter Connie; sister Patricia, brother Bobby, sister Sylvia, brother Charlie, brother Jimmy; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Cindy, son Timothy, and sister Nancy.
Those who wish to celebrate Marcia’s life in the company of her family and dear friends may attend calling hours at Ricker Funeral Home, Lebanon, N.H., on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a funeral to be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at the Community Baptist Church, Plainfield, at 1 p.m.
