He was born Nov. 20, 1937, to the late Francis and Helen (Fulcher) Bickel in Detroit, Mich.
Thomas graduated from the University of Michigan with his doctorate in Mathematics. In May of 1964 he married his wife, Elizabeth Dobrowolski. In 1970 Thomas and Elizabeth moved to Enfield, N.H. Thomas began his carrier as a professor in 1967 at Dartmouth College. His last twelve years he also served as the Registrar.
In his free time Tom enjoyed leading bird walks in the Hanover area. You may have also met him on the rail trail around Mascoma Lake where he enjoyed walking and bird watching as well. Tom was an active member of the American Mathematics Association as well as several birding associations.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, of 53 years.
Following his request there will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of life announced and celebrated at the Woodlands in Lebanon at a later date.
