Braintree, Vt. — Trains are moving slower through a section of track in Braintree after police say the tracks were damaged by gunshots that were fired from a man’s backyard shooting range.

Daniel Curulla, 48, has been cited for railroad vandalism in connection with the damage, according to Vermont State Police.

Police said they were contacted by New England Central Railroad officials last month about the damage “that had been done by a firearm.”

Passenger trains and freight trains run on that section of the line.

Curulla is due in court to answer to the citation on Dec. 6.
