Police said they received an anonymous tip about the ad on Tuesday and engaged in a conversation with James Taylor, according to a Lebanon police news release.
The conversation led police to meet Taylor at a West Lebanon baseball field. Taylor, who arrived with his 2-year-old child, believed he was meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex but was confronted by police.
He faces charges of attempted felonious sexual assault, certain use of computer services prohibited and endangering the welfare of a child, a charge that stems from him bringing his child to commit the alleged crime, the release states.
He remains held at the Grafton County Jail. He faced a judge on Friday, but the details of what took place at the hearing weren’t immediately available.
The child was released into the custody of his or her mother.
