Hanover fumbled a punt return in the first quarter, which Kennett returned and soon converted into a touchdown for a 7-0 lead. The Eagles would add another touchdown before halftime and lead, 14-6, at the break.
The Marauders’ offense was led by the two-headed ground attack of Caleb Putnam and Calen Thomas. Putnam did his damage with a steady dose of inside rushes to the tune of 119 yards and a pair of short-yardage touchdowns on 29 carries. Thomas added 85 yards on eight carries, including an 18-yard touchdown and a 30-yard rush to set up one of the Putnam TD runs.
Putnam added a 2-point conversion rush. Kicker Moises Celaya was 1-for-2 on extra points. Quarterback Alex Mosenthal finished with 26 yards rushing.
The Marauders won the turnover battle, coming up with a pair of Kennett miscues and securing the ball outside of the early fumble on special teams. Hanover improves to 7-0 and will visit John Stark (5-1 heading into today’s game at Bow) next Saturday at 2 p.m.
Hartford 12, Essex 7

Hunter Perkins scored on a 6-yard run to cap a game-opening, 11-play, 75-yard drive for Hartford. Essex returned the favor on its first possession, using a 75-year Grady Corkum kickoff return to set up a 5-yard TD pass from Cam Quinn to Chris LaBonte.
Hartford quarterback Tyler Hamilton connected with Nick Porter on a 20-yard scoring pass with 2:14 left in the first half, a drive started after a Porter interception. The Canes’ defense did the rest, including a denial of Essex on a fourth-and-short at the Hartford 2-yard line midway through the fourth quarter.
The Canes open defense of last year’s D-I state title on Friday night at Hartford High.
Kearsarge 41, Mascoma 0

Mascoma kept it close until halftime, trailing 14-0 at the break. The Cougars then took control in the second half.
“The kids played with emotion and energy tonight. They played with passion, which was very evident, particularly in the first half. It was the best half of football we’ve played all year,” Mascoma coach Les Lawrence said.
The Royals host Fall Mountain a week from today in their season finale.
Monadnock 37, Newport 16
Swanzey, n.h.
Monadnock led from stem to stern, building a 30-0 halftime lead before Newport put points on the board.
The Tigers return to Maryn Field a week from today to wrap up the regular season against Newfound.

Windsor
Jacob Curtis scored two goals while playing the best game of his career, according to coach Andy Tufts. Vincent Moeykens also scored, converting on a corner kick by Curtis. Senior Elijah Collier added an assist. Curtis’ second goal came on another corner kick that curved its way into the back of the net.
Keeper Eli Milligan made 11 saves for the shutout. Windsor (6-8) will be either the eighth or ninth seed in the Vermont Division III playoffs starting next week.

“It was a great win for our 10 seniors and an exceptional way to end the season and prepare for the playoffs,” Mascoma coach Ryan Limero said.
The Royals will be returning to postseason play for the second straight season.
Dylan Pelton also scored for Mascoma. Disbrow and Justin McDonald each had a pair of assists. Keeper Hunter Whyte made 10 saves.
Lebanon 6, Milford 0
Lebanon
Nate Chickering opened the scoring in the second minute with an assist from Logan Falzarano. Luke Sandmann doubled the advantage in the 13th minute. Seniors Marcus Roper and Ian Garland both scored their first varsity goals before the first half was over to make it 4-0 at the midway point.
Sandmann’s second made it 5-0 in the 46th minute. John Moorhead’s goal in the 78th minute accounted for the final score. Ben Tichner chipped in with two assists for the Raiders. Jack Sandmann and Chickering each had one assist.
Erik Spaulding had three saves in goal for Lebanon, which will open the NHIAA Division II playoffs at home on Wednesday.
Woodsville 4, Gorham 2

Enderson got Woodsville on the board with a direct kick in the 32nd minute, but the hosts trailed, 2-1, at halftime. Cody Burroughs scored the equalizer 25 seconds into the second half, followed by a pair of Enderson goals to put the match on ice. Corey Bemis had an assist.
Keeper Cooper Davidson made nine saves and played a very strong game, according to coach Mike Ackerman. Woodsville closes the season at 9-7 and will be the No. 9 seed in the NHIAA Division IV playoffs.

Nick Ducharme battled for possession of the ball and slotted a pass behind the Wilton defense to set up Garland’s 33rd-minute goal. Garland anticipated the feed and buried a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Cade Robinson joined Ducharme in a midfield effort that ultimately decided the match.
The Lakers locked down the fourth seed in the upcoming NHIAA Division IV state tournament with the victory. They’ll open the postseason at home on Tuesday.

“We played OK in the first half and much better in the second. We had some good chances, just couldn’t get the equalizer,” Hartford coach Kevin Guilbault said.

The defeat prevented Stevens from clinching a top-four spot in next week’s state tournament, leaving the Cards to wait out a two- or three-team tiebreaker, depending on other weekend results, before they learn their tournament fate. At a minimum, Stevens will host a first-round match next week at Monadnock Park.

Trailing due to a long-distance Hollis strike in the 23rd minute, Hanover answered in the 26th when Cate Wagner nodded home a Pepper Joseph corner kick. The Marauders took the match in the 60th minute on a head-ball conversion by Carly Craft following passes from Charlotte Johnson and Wagner.
Goalie Bella Bardales made three saves for the win. Hanover opens the tournament at home on Thursday.

“The girls did a nice job and worked hard. We played pretty much a full game. I’m pleased and now we hope to continue this through the playoffs,” Woodsville coach Ann Loud said.
Maachah Krull had an assist and keeper McKenzie Dennis made three saves. The Engineers look to be locked in as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NHIAA Division IV postseason.

A pair of goals by Austin and an Abby Pollari score helped the Lakers lead, 3-0, at halftime. Austin then added the lone goal after the break. Hannah Cooney had two assists. Austin and Pollari each added assists.
The victory likely means the defending NHIAA Division IV state champion Lakers will open their title defense as the No. 1 seed.

White River Junction
Kendyl Boisvert and Alice Dwyer scored for Hartford. Jasmine Wilson had an assist. Senior keeper Morgan White had six saves. The Canes also honored Madison Druge, Maya Bolger-Chen, Maddie Koff and Ileana Sirois for senior night.
The Canes will likely be the No. 8 seed in the VPA Division II playoffs.
U-32 1, Thetford 0
East Montpelier, Vt.
U-32 scored in the 20th minute to take the early lead. Thetford had numerous chances in the second half. Lily MacVeagh had a shot off the post, and the Panthers had multiple corner kicks in the later part of the match but were unable to convert.
Keeper Danielle Robinson made five saves. Coach Dave Williams praised the play of the Thetford defense of Grace Davis, Lily Brown, Kate Vaughan, Emma Berard and Sophie Williams. The Panthers now look ahead to the VPA Division III playoffs as the likely second seed.
Campbell 5, Newport 1
Newport
Stark potted her fifth goal of the season late in the first half to cut into a 3-0 deficit. Newport used the second half to give players opportunities to try other roles, with Libby Tremblay tending goal for the first time and teammates Anna Pysz and Keegan Halleck moving to the forward line.
“Although it wasn’t the ending and outcome of the season we wanted, I’m extremely proud of how resilient the girls were and how positive they stayed throughout the season,” Newport coach Jon Hamel noted in an email. “They never gave up and continued to grind games out and make adjustments.”

Lili Sorrentino and Yates scored in the first half to give Woodstock a 2-1 lead at the break. Khara Brettell and Sidney Pilot then added goals to put the Wasps in front, 4-1. After a pair of Patriots goals narrowed the gap to 4-3, Yates made things more comfortable with her second strike of the game.
Brettell had two assists, and Claire Coates added one helper. Goalie Maggie Parker made eight saves for the Wasps (6-5-3), who will open the VPA Division II playoffs at home.
New Hampton 1, KUA 0
New Hampton, n.h.
New Hampton finally broke the deadlock with a goal off a corner kick late in the match. KUA had several chances but was unable to find the back of the net. Keeper Seana Perkins made six saves for the Wildcats, who play at Tilton at 1:30 p.m today.

Hanover will hit the road for the first round of the playoffs, with St. Thomas, Gilford and Portsmouth serving as a likely destination. The Marauders learn their fate on Monday.

Tess Palin and Jenna Levasseur each had three aces and four kills. Lexi Miller and Emily Devore each were 8-for-8 from the service line. The Lakers will open the New Hampshire Division III playoffs on Thursday.
Hanover Sweeps Home Meet

Leila Trummel paced Hanover to a head-to-head win over Campbell, the only other school to field a full team. Trummel won in 20 minutes, 52 seconds, with Elsa Nordstrom (fourth, 21:50), Chrissy Aman (seventh, 22:47), Hannah Chipman (10th, 23:00) and Kennedy Lange (11th, 23:22) following to give the Marauders a two-point decision. Woodstock’s Grace Vollers ran to a fifth-place time of 22:18, edging Lebanon’s Grace Furlong (also 22:18) at the line.
Depth aided Hanover’s boys, who outscored four other teams. Simon Herron, Joseph Jacobs, Morgan Baughman, Jack Lynch and Daniel Bandler finished 4-5-6-7-8, with only 17 seconds separating the back of the group from Herron’s time of 18:28. Riley Shepherd (17:55) and Matthew Bassette (18:18) were 2-3 for third-place Woodstock. Lebanon took fourth behind Cody Davis’ 12th-place time of 19:17 and a 16th-place result from Ed Biesczad (19:45).
