White River Junction — The chief executive of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire will retire next spring, the organization announced in a news release today.

Jeanne McLaughlin has led the VNA, which serves 150 towns in Vermont and New Hampshire, since January 2008. She previously served as chief executive of Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Services in upstate New York and of VNA & Hospice, part of the Mercy Health Systems, in Portland, Maine.

“The Board of Trustees accepts Jeanne’s decision with great admiration and appreciation for all she has done for VNH during her nearly 10 years of service as our leader, our advocate, our champion, and our friend and colleague,” Chairman of VNH’s Board of Trustees Gary Mayo, said in the release.

During her tenure, McLaughlin addressed financial challenges, led a brand transition in name and identity and helped develop an affiliation with Dartmouth-Hitchcock, formalized in 2016.

“Jeanne has created a strong and stable foundation for a new leader to build upon for our future,” Mayo said.

The organization plans to undertake a national search for a successor.
