New York — Josh Wainwright caught 10 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including a 24-yarder from Anders Hill in overtime, and Columbia defeated Pennsylvania, 34-31, on Saturday for its best start since 1996.

The Lions (5-0, 2-0 Ivy) knocked off the defending Ivy League champions for the first time in 21 tries and snapped an 11-game home skid against the Quakers (2-3, 0-2). The Lions are assured of no worse than a .500 record after winning just five games in its last four seasons.

Penn appeared to be in control after Nick Miller’s 25-yard interception return gave the Quakers a 21-7 lead in the third quarter. But the Lions rallied for three TDs in the fourth to take a 28-21 lead. Josh Bean started the Columbia scoring with a 1-yard plunge. Hill hit Wainwright for a 59-yard score to knot the score at 21 and then connected with Rory Schlageter from 7 yards out for the go-ahead score.

Stony Brook 38, UNH 24

Stony Brook, n.y. — Joe Carbone threw two touchdown passes, Stacey Bedell ran for 157 yards and another score, and Stony Brook (5-2, 4-1 CAA) shut out New Hampshire (4-2, 2-1) in the second half.

Bedell scored on a 63-yard run in the first quarter, and Carbone connected with Harrison Jackson on a 28-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. But Trevor Knight’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Nick Lorden gave New Hampshire a 24-16 halftime lead. Knight was 37-of-58 passing for 373 yards.

BC, 45, Louisville 42

Louisville, Ky. — Colton Lichtenberg kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired, pushing Boston College past Louisville in a shootout after the Cardinals tied the game late behind three fourth-quarter scores by Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.

After Jackson’s 41-yard TD run with 5:03 remaining tied the wild game at 42, BC’s Isaac Yiadom recovered the second of two fumbles at Louisville’s 39. Freshman A.J. Dillon, who rushed for two of his career-best four TDs in the fourth quarter, ran seven times to get the Eagles down to the Cardinals 10 and set up Lichtenberg’s game-winning kick that gave BC (3-4, 1-3 ACC) its first league victory. Louisville is 4-3, 1-3.

Princeton 53, Brown 0

Providence, r.i. — Charlie Volker set a school record with a 96-yard rushing touchdown and Princeton (4-1, 1-1 Ivy League) eased by Brown (2-3, 0-2).

Volker, who entered with just two rushing touchdowns on the season, had all four of his touchdown runs by halftime.

Yale 32, Holy Cross 0

New Haven, Conn. — Kurt Rawlings threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns and Yale cruised over Holy Cross (2-5).

Yale (4-1) bounced back from a 28-27 loss to Dartmouth on Oct. 7 in an Ivy League opener, a game in which it led 21-0 in the second quarter.

Harvard 38, Lafayette 10

Boston — Charlie Booker III had 23 carries for 159 yards and one touchdown and Harvard (3-2) amassed 296 rushing yards as the Crimson (3-2) routed Lafayette (2-5).

Bucknell 28, Cornell 18

Ithaca, n.y. — John Chiarolanzio threw two touchdown passes, the defense forced a fumble that led to one of four field goals, and Bucknell beat Cornell (1-4) a week after upsetting Ivy League favorite Harvard.

UConn 28, Temple 24

Philadelphia — Bryant Shirreffs threw for three touchdowns, Tyler Cole had a pick-six, and Connecticut (2-4, 1-3 American Athletic Conference) held off Temple to end an eight-game skid in conference play.

Maine 51, Rhode Island 27

Orono, Maine — Chris Ferguson threw for five touchdowns and Josh Mack rushed for 248 yards and another score as Maine (2-3, 1-3, CAA) dominated the final two quarters to beat Rhode Island (1-5, 0-3).

Holderness, n.h. — Jeremy Martin’s 22-yard field goal in overtime lifted Plymouth State (6-1, 4-1 MASCAC) past Framingham State (5-1, 3-1), which suffered its first loss.

Bangor, Maine — Cory Brandon was 15-for-17 passing with 183 yards and four touchdowns as Husson (5-1, 3-0 ECFC), the league’s preseason favorite, crushed Castleton (3-3, 2-1)

Williams 27, Middlebury 26

Middlebury, Vt. — Frank Stola caught a 15-yard TD pass from Bobby Maimaron with no time left as Williams (4-1) scored 20 points in a come-from-behind win over Middlebury (4-1).

Assumption 55, St. Anselm 10

Manchester — Marc Monks threw for 319 yards and four TDs as Assumption (6-0) sunk Saint Anselm (0-6).
