LSC Synergy Soars

The Synergy found its form after a slow start, keeping the ball in GPS’ half of the field over one 15-minute stretch of the opening half. The domination paid off when Avery Barton scored on a pass from Stella Galanes before Phoebe Garfield’s strike made it 2-0 by the interval.
Izzy Kachikis finished off the scoring for LSC with a second-half conversion set up by Melissa Whitmore. Sophia Bridge held firm in goal for the shutout.
Surge Plays to Draw
Henniker, n.h.
The Surge jumped to a 2-0 first-half lead as Ainsley Smith finished an Aila Van Dolah pass before Van Dolah added an unassisted goal. JSU leveled by halftime, although Adeline Tullar came up with key stops in the LSC net to maintain the tie.
Reece Kenney returned the Surge to the lead with a second-half goal, but the hosts rallied for the tie.
Windham Eclipses Stars
Windham, n.h.
Braelyn Park and Savannah Lindsley played well on defense for the Stars. At the other end of the field, Audrey Rupp had the club’s best scoring opportunities.
The Stars head to Nashua on Saturday in search of their first win of the season.
Flames Burn SUSC
Epping, n.h.
Nick Reiss posted a hat trick in the win for LSC. Reiss struck twice in a five-minute span of the first half to get the Flames going, the first on passes from Marcus Wortmann and Andi Muhlauri and the second after a Logan Isham free kick.
Seacoast drew within a goal before halftime. The Flames got going again after the break with Cavan O’Brien feeding Muhlauri for a 3-1 lead and Reiss finishing off the match with his third goal.
Norwood Davis stopped 11 shots for the win.
GPA Tops LSC Comets
Meriden
GPS got off to a quick start with the match’s opening goal. Thatcher Bacon equalized from the spot for the Comets, but the visitors pulled away for the eventual victory.
The Comets are in action on Sunday in Epping, N.H., against GPS Maine Phoenix Blue.
Wednesday Walkers Bound for Lyme

Like all Wednesday Walkers dates, participants will meet at Hartford Town Hall at 9 a.m. for transportation to the trail head. The hike should end by noon, and the walk will be easy to moderate in nature. Hikers are reminded to wear clothing appropriate for the day and bring a snack and water.
In addition to next Wednesday’s event, Hartford Parks and Rec will hold two other hikes this fall. An Oct. 11 get-together will head to the Hurricane Forest Wildlife Refuse in Hartford. The Oct. 25 meet will take hikers to Boston Lot Lake in West Lebanon. More events are scheduled for this winter.

Adult Field Hockey

Adult indoor field hockey is open to women and men ages 18 and older. While geared toward experienced players, newcomers are welcome to give the game a try. Plans are to hold games every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. for four weeks, beginning on Oct. 5.
Players must pre-register with Grantham Indoor in order to determine if the program has enough participation to proceed. The cost is $40 for four weeks; no drop-ins, please.

The competition starts when the Upper Valley Vixens host the Connecticut Roller Derby All-Stars at 5 p.m. A match between TSD’s B team follows at 7 p.m., with Monadnock Roller Derby providing the opposition.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 online and $12 at the arena. Children ages 5-12 and veterans get in for $5, and children 4 and younger are free. Group rates are also available.

Registration for the event starts at 9 a.m., with a planned 10 a.m. start for the four-player scramble tournament. The cost of $300 per team includes the 18-hole tournament along with carts, lunch and a chance to win a variety of prizes. Golfers will also have chances to compete for longest drive and closest to the pin awards, and mulligans will be on sale for those who may need them.

The annual 18-hole scramble tournament helps fund the Hurricanes’ varsity hockey programs. The team fee of $240 includes greens fees for a foursome along with prizes and a post-tournament dinner.
