Randolph, Vt. — Rachel M. Ribi, 100, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Tunbridge on Sept. 10, 1916; the daughter of Frank and Annie Durkee. She was one of eight children and the last surviving of her family. She was an amazing caring mother who had two children of her own and cared for many other nieces and nephews.

Her career started in 1953 as a waitress at Percy’s Diner in Royalton, where she worked for 30 years. She enjoyed camping, auctions and flea markets. For many years she enjoyed wintering in Florida. Later in life she loved volunteering at Randolph Blood Drives. Of all things, she loved good food and being with family the most.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Arbuckle and husband Walter; granddaughters, Brenda and husband Chris, Bonny and husband Greg, and Clayton Jr’s children Laura, Tom and Michael. She had 12 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Rachel was predeceased by her three husbands, Clayton Carpenter Sr., Don Wilson, and Angelo Ribi; son Clayton Carpenter Jr., and grandson Clayton “Curt” Carpenter III.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, with Pastor Thomas Harty, officiating. A private family burial service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bethel. Calling hour is from 10 a.m. Monday until service time at the funeral home.
