The UVRC established the award to recognize a student runner who has pursued academic success, demonstrated a commitment in community service and embraced running as a high school pursuit. The award comes with a $1,000 scholarship.
Harriman maintained a 3.50 grade-point average at Lebanon and performed in a variety of community roles around the city. His efforts included work as a dietetic aide at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and freshman orientation leader for three years at LHS.
Harriman also run cross country and track through middle school and in all four years at Lebanon. He captained the cross country team as a senior.
Harriman is bound for Ithaca (N.Y.) College in the fall, with plans for studying physical therapy.
Lebanon’s Gamache MVP
Auburndale, Fla.
World Cup placed third in its four-team division, going 1-3-0. Nashua opened group play with a 3-2 win over Kansas’s Puma FC Academy Chelsea before dropping a 5-0 decision to Colorado Storm North and a 3-2 contest to Arkansas Rush Black in which Gamache recorded a goal. World Cup finished with a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the consolation final.
World Cup reached the Presidents Cup by virtue of winning a sectional tournament in West Virginia earlier in the year. Gamache will be a sophomore at Kimball Union Academy this fall.
Rivards Conquer Kingdom
Newport, Vt.
Margaret Rivard, 10, competed in the 10-mile division and placed sixth among all women in 5 hours, 50 minutes, 12 seconds. Twelve years younger than her nearest-in-age competitor, Rivard became the youngest swimmer to ever complete the course.
Vera Rivard, 13, took on the 25-kilometer Border Buster race, aso becoming the youngest swimmer to complete the distance. Rivard finished in 7:15:33, taking third among all women and fifth overall.
Costello Memorial Meet
Lebanon
The competition starts at 10 a.m. and will consist of the bench press and dead lift. Awards will go to all contestants based on their results.
The entry fee is $60. Money raised will go to charity. The meet is held in the memory of Costello, to recognize his competitive spirit and his many contributions to powerlifting. Entries close on Aug. 7.

CCBA Celebrating 30th
Lebanon
Free workout classes will start at 8 a.m. with aqua fitness along with TRX (the latter requires pre-registration). An outdoor boot camp session is set for 9:30 a.m., and an outdoor yoga class will kick off at 10:30 a.m. All workouts will be held rain or shine.
The day will also include the CCBA’s annual Touch-a-Truck for kids as well as a variety of other fun and family-centered activities. Contact the CCBA at 603-448-6477 for more information.

Stoaked Trail Run
Hanover
Runners will compete over a 12.5-kilometer course. The first 100 participants will receive a free day pass to Storrs Hills Recreation Area. A free kids’ run also is on the schedule. The event is a fundraiser for the Upper Valley Trails Alliance. Pre-registration through Friday is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 15-19, increasing $5 on race day.

Under the Tree 5K
Hartland
The race is a benefit for the HCP in its efforts to help local families in a time of need.
Runners can help by taking part in the race, which starts at 9 a.m. from the Hartland Recreation Center. The 10K costs $30, and the 5K is $20.
Advance registration is available through www.underthetreerace.org. Race-day registration will start at 8 a.m.
