Tunbridge — Beer enthusiasts will gather on Aug. 19 at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds for the second annual Vermont Nanobrewery Festival, which celebrates breweries that produce four barrels (124 gallons) of beer or fewer per batch.

“NanoFest is a chance for people to try beer from breweries they may not have heard of or seen on their store shelves,” said Anne Linehan, owner of Brocklebank Craft Brewing in Tunbridge, who is organizing the event.

“We hope locals and out-of-state visitors will be inspired to seek out the smaller breweries in their travels around Vermont.”

Linehan and her husband hosted the first NanoFest at their brewery last August. When nearly 250 people attended, Linehand noticed she was on to something.

“I wanted to expand the event for 2017, and the Fairgrounds people approached us about starting a beer festival there,” she said. “I think it’s a perfect spot for NanoFest.”

In addition to Brocklebank Craft Brewing, nine other breweries are scheduled to be at the event: Bent Hill Brewing of Braintree, Good Measure Brewing of Northfield, Halyard Brewing Co. of South Burlington, Hogback Mountain Brewing of Bristol, Norwich Inn of Norwich, Red Barn Brewing of Danville, Simple Roots Brewing of Burlington, Ten Bends Beer of Hyde Park, and Upper Pass Beer Co. of Tunbridge.

“NanoFest is all about small, local breweries,” said Michael Czok, owner of Bent Hill Brewing. “It’s different from the bigger festivals, and I’m looking forward to being part of it again this year.”

Food trucks, including In the Road taco truck from Topsham, Rob Rinaldi’s mobile wood-fired pizza oven from Corinth, and Big Head Ed’s barbecue trailer from West Fairlee will be at the festival. Two local bluegrass bands, Turnip Truck and Red Barn Hayloft, will provide music throughout the day.

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased online or at the gate. They include a 12-once tasting glass. Beer tickets will be sold for cash only at the festival for $1 per 3 ounce ticket. Attendees must be 21 to sample beer at the festival.
