Springfield, Vt.
The volunteers visit the homes of eligible residents and determine whether simple energy-efficiency items such as Energy Star LED light bulbs, low-flow shower heads and water pipe insulation would help the residents save money.
If so, the volunteer would then install the products and also determine whether a more in-depth energy-efficiency retrofit by a contractor would be helpful.
The hours are flexible and volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The project, funded through a grant from Efficiency Vermont, is expected to start immediately and continue for at least six months.
“We know this volunteer opportunity will be very rewarding to people who want to serve their communities and make a real difference in making our state more energy efficient,” Carol Stamatakis, executive director of Senior Solutions, said in a news release.
Senior Solutions, formerly known as the Council on Aging for Southeastern Vermont, serves 46 communities in Windsor and Windham counties.
