Lyme, N.H. — Freda Swan of Lyme, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. She was born on Dec. 1, 1935, in Boston, Mass., to Harriet Royce and Philip Huntington Theopold. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry “Hank” Swan who died on June 3, 2017.

She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and graduated from Boston University in 1957. Among her many interests were horseback riding, photography, and public service in the town of Lyme, where she served as a member of the Select Board and on the Planning Board. She also served on the board of The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Along with her husband, she was dedicated to the conservation of land in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. 

No memorial service is planned at this time. Remembrances may be made to The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the Upper Valley Land Trust or one of your own preference.
