Peterborough, N.H. — The burial of Richard A. Smith, the eldest son of Ralph Arthur Smith and Marion Stanley, will take place with full military honors on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Union Village Cemetery, Academy Road, Norwich, Vt. Richard died Jan. 23, 2017 in Peterborough, N.H. Richard was born on Nov. 25, 1933, in Thetford, Vt., and willingly and proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force. Richard is survived by his second wife, Mary Ellen of Wilton, N.H.; his daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Billlerica, Mass., and Susan J. Smith of Hawthorne, Calif.; grandchildren Bradley R. Wheeler and Katherine Smith; sisters Norma Tuttle and Joan (Phil) Laro of White River Junction, Vt.; brother Wilfred (Pam) Smith of Norwich, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
