Bethel, Vt. —
On Sept. 11, 1954, he married Irene F. Edmonds of Barnard, Vt. They lived all their married life in either Barnard or Bethel. Sarge spent a few years logging for people in the area, before becoming a bulldozer operator. He was well known for his skills running a bulldozer.
He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Barnard Mountaineers Snowmobile Club for many years.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Catherine Space; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene on Dec. 13, 2006; a stepdaughter, Marion Balch and a sister, Dorothy Doyle.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tom Harty officiating at the North Road Cemetery in Barnard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VA Medical Center, 215 North Main Street, White River Jct., VT 05009-0001.
