Thor’s Stone Athletic Club’s Valerie Thompson, of Lebanon, set a USA Weightlifting New England record in the 75-kilo, age 60-65 class with a clean-and-jerk lift of 1,002 pounds at an Olympic-style lifting meet hosted by TSAC at Carter Community Building Association on Saturday.
Thompson also snatched 70 pounds.
Jane Higgins, 68, snatched 62 pounds and clean-and-jerked 84, while Christine Cavanaugh, 47, snatched 60 and clean-and-jerked 80, both personal bests.
In the men’s division, Lee Pelletier snatched 106 and clean-and-jerked 126, while Zane Rodriguez lifted 139 and 177, respectively.
Darrin Clement, of East Thetford, snatched 170 and clean-and-jerked 221, Chris Passage lifted 151 and 210, and Luben Ikonomov lifted 166 and 212. Rodriguez and Ikonomov recorded personal bests.
In the youth division, Stephen Prunk, Andrew Fortier, Jake Fortier and Camden Moffitt all set personal bests in both disciplines.
Prunk snatched 78 pounds and clean-and-jerked 111, identical figures to that of Andrew Fortier.
Jake Fortier snatched 102 pounds and clean-and-jerked 137, while Moffitt snatched 126 and clean-and-jerked 89.
Renshaw On To AAU Champs
Hanover High sophomore Kai Renshaw placed second on the one-meter diving board at the AA Nee England Diving Championships on Sunday, punching his ticket to the AAU Diving National Championships from July 22-28 in Huntersville, N.C.
Only the top two scorers in the event moved on to Nationals.
Renshaw, who competes for the Marauders’ swimming and diving team, is the reigning NHIAA champion. He also competes with the Upper Valley Diving program, which trains at Dartmouth College.
Lebanon Girls Win Pair
Hanover
Lebanon’s first varsity boat finished in five minutes, 26.2 seconds, 6.3 seconds ahead of second-place Dublin. Its second varsity boat finished in 3:55.20, 8.3 seconds in fron of Great Bay.
Great Bay’s third varsity boat finished in 6:13.2, well ahead of Lebanon and Dublin. Brewster placed ahead of runner-up Lebanon in the girls first novice race.
On the boys’ side, Dublin captured the first and second varsity races, edging Lebanon in both.
Lebanon also placed second in the third varsity race, placing behind Hollis Brookline.
Lebanon won the boys first novice race in 5:06.10, 18.4 seconds in front of Hollis Brookline.
Hanover Recreation Wins Invitational
East Montpelier, Vt.
MacLean won the 100 in 13.54 seconds, ahead of runner-up and teammate Zoe Onyango and additional Hanover runners Olivia Trummel (fourth) and Daisy Onyango (seventh).
MacClean won the 200 in 28.39, edging Trummerl (fourth) and teammate Natalie Feyrer (10th).
Hanover also excelled in the 800, with Caroline Loescher placing third, Kira Smith placing fourth and Sage Gilbert-Diamond placing sixth.
Loescher also was second in the 1,500, while Feyrer was second and Trummel third in the 75-meter hurdles.
Hanover’s boys were sixth, led by Daniel Frost’s second-place showings in both the 800 and 1,500. Sam Murray was third in the 1,500 and Gabriel Taylor placed second in the 75 hurdles for the Marauders.
LSC Blast Clinches First Place
Following a scoreless tie against Seacoast United on Saturday, Lightning Soccer Club U14 Blast clinched first place in the league with a 5-0 win against NEFC Premier North on Sunday.
Henry Aspinwall and Cam Dwyer scored two goals each, while Ryan Oliviera had a goal and an assist. Isak Larusson and Tucker Monson added assists. It was the fifth shutout of the season for Max Ritter.
Hunt, LSC Fire Close With Two Wins
Striker Murphy Hunt scored three goals over the weekend as the Lightning Soccer Club U13 Fire closed the league season with a pair of 2-1 wins.
On Friday in Burlington, the Fire trailed Synergy FC 1-0 at halftime before a pair of Hunt strikes secured the win.
On Saturday, the Fire visited FCUSA Coastal Impact in Epping, N.H., winning on goals by Hugh Clark — on a free kick from 20 yards — and Hunt.
Defenders Daniel Mladek, Jack McGrath, Palmer Okai, Jack Ross, Luke Clarner and Jack Garder were credited in aiding the wins for the Fire, as well as the play of goalie Jack Maynes.
Sonic Goes 0-1-1
After a 2-2 home draw against GPS Elite Navy on Saturday, the Lightning 2002 Sonic fell to the FC Boston Bolts Central team, 3-1, on Sunday in Marlborough, Mass.
The Sonic led the latter, 1-0, before surrendering three straight goals. Amane Matsuoka, Blake Palmer and Owen Stadheim had the best chances in the second half for the Lightning.
U-12 Strikers Get First Win
Meriden
Eliis Dunbar, Carter Guerin, Asger Busch, Aiden Brody and Will Guerin all had goals for the Strikers, while goalies Nate Finley (first half) and Sawyer Albrecht combiend for the shutout.
