Hopkinton, N.H. — New Hampshire authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances around an officer-involved shooting that took place Friday night on Interstate 89.

Few details have been released, including the identities of the officer and the suspect. The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has said New Hampshire State Police spotted a stolen vehicle from Vermont driving on I-89 around 7 p.m.

When the driver “eventually” stopped, “there was a confrontation” and the driver of the stolen vehicle was shot in Hopkinton, according to an Attorney General’s Office news release.

Hartford police on Monday said the vehicle was taken from a home on Murphy Road in Quechee and was owned by the suspect’s mother.

New Hampshire State Police “had located the vehicle within an hour of our staff taking the report/listing it as stolen,” Hartford Police Chief Phil Kasten said via email.

The man who was shot is expected to survived, the Attorney General’s Office release states. No officers were injured.
