The victory gave the Big Green (6-21-1 overall, 5-3 league) a sweep of its weekend set with the Big Red (6-17, 1-7). Dartmouth claimed a 9-8 win on Friday; Sunday’s was a makeup of Friday’s rained-out doubleheader nightcap.
Alyssa Jorgensen led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single, moving to second on Maddie Damore’s sacrifice bunt. After Karen Chaw grounded out, Chloe Madill reached on a fielding error to put runners at the corners.
Martinelli stepped up and launched a line-drive double to the left-center field fence to plate Jorgensen and pinch runner Taylor Ward. Claire Bird then singled in Martinelli for a 3-0 lead.
Cornell’s Megan Murray greeted Ethridge with a solo homer to right field to open the seventh, but the Dartmouth pitcher got the Big Red in order from there to clinch the victory. In her 11th complete game of the season, Ethridge fanned three and didn’t allow a walk.
Dartmouth hosts Brown for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
CSC Splits Again
Bangor, Maine
The Chargers (8-8 overall, 2-2 North Atlantic Conference) scored twice in the second inning of game one thanks to a two-run Brendan Thurber homer. Nathan Frongillo’s RBI single plated Woodstock High graduate Doug Avellino with a third run in the third frame, and Colby-Sawyer held on from there.
Ryan Glendye went the distance for the win, allowing seven hits — all singles — and fanning two for the Chargers.
Hartford High grad Justin Devoid’s inside-the-park home run highlighted Colby-Sawyer’s offense in the nightcap loss.
The Chargers visit Castleton for a twinbill on Wednesday.
Dartmouth 4, Brown 1

Dartmouth gained the doubles point by claiming the second and third spots, then took three singles wins to claim the day. Charlie Broom, Ciro Riccardi and George Wall grabbed the singles victories.
Dartmouth will play host to Cornell, Columbia and Hofstra in separate matches this weekend.
Brown 5, Dartmouth 2
Hanover
Kristina Mathis and Taylor Ng won first doubles, 6-0, and Julia Schroeder and Racquel Lyn took second doubles, 6-1, to get the Big Green started. Only Lyn succeeded at singles, however, while Brown claimed three wins in three sets.
The Big Green visits Cornell on Friday and Columbia on Saturday.
