Binghamton batted around in the fifth inning, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs, including a two-run single by Oberste.

Binghamton southpaw P.J. Conlon (1-0) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Conner Greene (0-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game after he allowed three runs on just one hit over 4⅓ innings.

The Rumble Ponies opened the doubleheader with a 2-0 victory. Tyler Pill and Cory Burns combined for a shutout against New Hampshire, whose season-opening game was twice put off by weather last week.

Burns got Tim Lopes to hit into a double play with a runner on first to end the game for his first save of the season.

Binghamton scored its runs when Kevin Taylor scored on a forceout in the second inning and L.J. Mazzilli scored on a ground out in the fourth.
