Norwich, Vt. — Steve Tolliday, age 54, died unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 24, 2017. Steve leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Heidi Cruz, and their two sons, Jackson and Davey Tolliday. Steve was a devoted family man and his sons were the light of his life.

Steve was born to Dave and June Tolliday on April 26, 1962, in London, England. He moved to the United States when he was in 20s. Steve lost his first wife, Deborah Meyer, to cancer. After graduating from college in 1992, Steve worked at the American Museum of Natural History. It was at the museum that he met his wife, Heidi Cruz. During their marriage, Steve was a loving husband and constant support to Heidi, seeing her through medical school and residency, and becoming a devoted stay-at-home dad to their sons. Steve considered being a father to Jackson and Davey to be the most important job of his life. After living in California and Minnesota, the family moved to Norwich in 2007.

In addition to his wife and sons, Steve is survived by his father, Dave Tolliday, and brother, Barry Tolliday, both of England; a brother, Terry Tolliday of Boston, and his wife Donna and their daughters Caitlin, Courtney, and Bailey; and sister, Jill Winterburn of Australia, her husband Steve Winterburn, and their daughter Brooke.

Steve was easy-going and fun to be with. He had a quick sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He enjoyed many interests, including cars, music of all kinds – especially Stevie Wonder, go-karts, public transportation, Premier League Soccer, Formula 1 Racing, Monty Python, and going to thrift stores. Above all else, Steve enjoyed being a father and spending time with his sons.

Plans for a celebration of Steve’s life will be announced at a later date.
