Lebanon
Cardinals coach Jason Stone will guide the New Hampshire boys roster in the all-star tilt against Vermont’s top graduating seniors, and he’ll bring along midfielder Ethan Sweet as part of the Granite State team. Lebanon’s Julian Stott and Carter Adams will also suit up, part of a group of 15 players and coaches scheduled to take part in the girls-boys doubleheader.
Stone earned NHIAA Division III coach of the year honors for guiding Stevens to a 17-3-0 mark to reach the state finals for the first time since 1989, where the Cards dropped a 1-0 decision to Hopkinton. Sweet netted 20 goals during the campaign, making the all-state second team.
Stott and Adams were integral parts of Lebanon’s 17-1-1 campaign, which ended in a penalty-kick tiebreaker loss to Goffstown in the NHIAA D-II final.
Stone’s New Hampshire Lions Cup boys squad includes Hanover striker Sam Strohbehn and middie Jake Acker, as well as prolific Woodsville forward Antonio Houde. Strohbehn and Acker guided the Marauders to a top-three spot in NHIAA Division I, while Houde netted an Upper Valley-best 45 goals for the Engineers.
Woodstock’s Collin Campbell is on the alternates list for the Vermont boys.
The New Hampshire girls will have four players from the area on its roster this summer: Sunapee defender Jessica Parsons, Lebanon goalkeeper Kassidee Rogers, Hanover back J.J. Taube and Sunapee striker Sydney Clark, who scored 22 times during the Lakers’ trip to an NHIAA Division IV state championship last fall. Sharon’s Mallory Lloyd and Woodstock’s Anna Dieffenbach counter for the Vermont girls, who count Rivendell head coach Tim Goodwin as one of the Green Mountain squad’s assistant coaches.
The Vermont girls and New Hampshire boys claimed last summer’s matches at Castleton University. The next edition of the Twin State Lions Cup is set for July 15 at New England College.
