Claremont N.H. —
She was born in Claremont alongside her twin sister on March 30, 1959, the daughter of Lloyd Merrill and Vera Belle (Larcom) Wilson.
She was preceded in death Feb. 15, 1993, by the love of her life, her husband, Stephen Jon Corcoran (Corky) whom she married on Aug. 9, 1980. She also was preceded in death on May 29, 2006 by her loving brother, Timothy Merrill Wilson, whom she thought the world of.
She was the loving mother of her daughter Valerie Lynn Corcoran and her son, Michael Lloyd Corcoran and his wife, Christine Mae (Robbins) Corcoran all of Claremont. She is survived also by more family including her twin sister and lifelong friend, Donna Lee (Wilson) Neider and her husband, Rodney of Claremont; a brother, Terry Scott Wilson and his wife, Dona of Loris S.C.; and her sister-in-law, Jennifer (Bodwell) Wilson of Manchester, N.H., wife of her late brother Timothy. She was blessed and honored in life by Mark and Ellen (Ellie) Hammer with her grandson, Alexander Austin Hammer of Roanoke, Va. and by Debra Klebes with her Goddaughter, Bethany Rachel Klebes of Claremont.
She is also survived by two Aunts, Nancy (Wilson) Robitille and Stella (Ferland) Wilson; and six close first cousins. Her nieces and nephews are Jeremy and Andrea Wilson, Fawna Wilson, Tonia and Robert Maccioli, Misty and Michael Boutin, Heather and Matthew Gfroerer, Brandon and Meghan Wilson and Molly and Stephen McManus, whom altogether brought more joy to her life with 10 great-nieces and five great-nephews.
She leaves having loved and been loved by many others who were family to her.
Debra was an unwavering woman of faith. She ministered through the way she lived her life; she had a kind heart, patience and grace that endured. Along with mission trips, lay ministry and christian counseling. She adored spending her time with people; family, friends, or even just strangers she would meet along her day. She had a magnetic personality which allowed her to make such an impact on so many lives. She could find symbolism in anything, a silver lining or blessings in situations many would feel as negative or tragic. Her smile was contagious and her hope inspiring.
Debra was a 1977 graduate of Stevens High School, and a 1978 graduate of Continental’s Academy of Hair Design Hudson, N.H. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 39 years.
She worked at Francis’s Hair Salon, PHD Salon, and Frank’s Bargain Center. She found her career at Valley Regional Hospital where she started working as a Certified Unit Coordinator for five years and went on to train and become a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician for twenty plus years before she relocated to Maine. She completed over many years, her studies to graduate from Light University in Forest, Va. in 2013, receiving her Advanced Diploma as a Lay Ministry Christian Counselor.
Debra was a long time member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. She belonged to the Rainbow Girls, Beta Sigma Phi and Aglow Ministries as well as many Ladies Ministries and Bible studies.
She grew up and was married in the Methodist Church in Claremont and later on in life became a member of the First Baptist Church (Grace River) with her husband Steve. They were saved, baptized and trained up in the Word of God and after Steve’s passing, Debra continued to serve the Lord there throughout her remaining 19 years of membership before relocating to Maine.
After much prayer and living in Maine a few years she transferred her membership to the Cundy’s Harbor Community Church of the Nazarene in Harpswell, Maine, where her heart found home and she remained a member for the rest of her life.
Since her return home to Claremont, she found her place of Worship in Newport, N.H. at the Mountainside Community Church. A small church being established and restored, but much more than that, a church where God led her and the body embraced her.
Visiting Hours will be held in Wednesday evening, March 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Grace River Church, Corner of Main Street and Central Street in Claremont, with Pastor Michael Greenwood, Pastor Stephen Hammond and Pastor Scott Kearns officiating. Burial will follow at the West Claremont Burying Ground. A reception will be held at the Claremont Country Club on Maple Ave.
